Mercedes-Benz will launch the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard in India on March 8, 2016.



The Guard is the armoured version of the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 luxury sedan. The car has a ballistic protection level of VR10. It is reported to be the first civilian vehicle in the world to get this certification and is capable of withstanding hardened steel core bullets fired by an assault rifle. The under-body of the car is armoured as well and is claimed to protect its occupants from explosions. The sides of the car can also withstand explosions.

The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard uses a reinforced body shell, special steel and materials in the basic structure and bodywork as well as fixed windows coated with polycarbonate to prevent splintering.

The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard is powered by a 5,890 cc, V12, bi-turbo engine that develops 523 BHP and 830 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. This is the same engine and gearbox combination that is found in the in the regular Mercedes-Maybach S 600 sedan.

This will be the default choice of all the VVIP's in the country like Ambani's, TATA's, the politicians as well.

Some other features of this car include:
1. The luxury sedan can withstand up to 15 kg of TNT blasts even from a distance of two meters.
2. The armored sedan comes with a reinforced base structure, a special underbody armor and polycarbonate-coated windows. The body panels also overlap at critical points for further protection.
3. Powering the S600 Guard is a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that delivers 523 horsepower and 612 lb-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Suspension and other components have also been enhanced to handle the sedan's extra weight.
4. The sedan's body and windows will be able to withstand steel core bullets fired by an assault rifle.

This possibly will be the most expensive car on sale in India.
Our PMO should replace the aged previous gen 7 series with the S600 Maybach Guard while the president get the new Pullman. They could also consider the Range Rover security vehicle to endorse the Tata/India pride.

Mercedes has taken a lot of time to get this one to India, since the UAE,Saudi and the Qatar Govt's already have them since the past 6 months. Mukesh Ambani till then has been make-doing with a Silver W222 S600 V12(Non-Maybach), Flanked by 2 2015 BMW X5's as security, but yes surely he'll get a new one soon.
