Re: Mahindra Nuvosport is the updated Quanto

Why can't Mahindra do some R&D on weight savings. They seem to follow the same path as the Fiat-Chrysler Group, who make good cars but way too heavy all the same. Easily, they had the time and patience to work out a design that can reduce weight, and result in improved mileage, handling and most importantly power to weight ratio for the Nuvosport and that could have been one key USP to start with. Every 100kg reduced, results in almost 3-4km/l improvement

A question that I too have often wondered about - one of the factors M&M always lags behind the competition is FE, which is directly linked to vehicle weight, among other factors.
I used to think its because of their body on frame trademark structures. But even the XUV, a monocoque, weighs (1750 kg) appreciably more than the competition. In fact the Innova, which is a body on frame structure, weighs less at 1660 kg.

M&M certainly need to work on this aspect if they want to be taken more seriously - in an environment where FE is becoming an all-important factor.

Re: Mahindra Nuvosport is the updated Quanto

Spotted a 'NuvoSport' yesterday being driven around in Mangalore. It really is a bad joke IMO. Though ugly, TUV looks much better in comparison. There is absolutely no connection between the nose and the rest of the car. I somehow felt that it has the same effect as the erstwhile Zen Classic, if you know what I mean!!

Enough has been said about the proportions of the Nuvosport but I must commend Mahindra on the remodelling of the front portion of the nuvosport(face) and it looks more butch from the front. Nuvosport looks like a good attempt by Mahindra but the Quanto image will haunt it nonetheless.

Re: Mahindra Nuvosport is the updated Quanto

Is the Nuvosport available for a test-drive - because when I visited the dealer a few days ago, they had no vehicle at the showroom, even for display.

Fortunately or unfortunately, today, neither engineer nor designer holds the key - it is the bean counter who decides which prototype is frozen and makes it to production. Apart from the Italian exotics and the various concept "item numbers" at the various auto shows world-wide, path-breaking designs often don't see the light of day. Conversely some really avant garde efforts receive the deep freeze from public opinion - the FIAT Multipla comes to mind among recent examples.

Re: Mahindra Nuvosport is the updated Quanto

Is there a official review to this ugly car? I know someone who plans to buy this thing.

A TeamBHP review would have helped. Any ownership review?

From these pictures, I'll take that black Tank any day!

Only from the front does the NuvoSport look slightly better.

Saw one of these contraptions on the road today, in white, complete with all that chrome we see in your pictures. Right at noon. And boy did it look ugly! I mean, full chrome bull bar and chrome hood scoop on a white vehicle as ugly as this?! I had thought the chrome would be thanks to some third-party Car Decor shop. But the very same stuff on a showroom display car means that those must be official accessories.
A blacked up front end does look decent on the NuvoSport, but this is just horrible. The stock car begins to look all the much better now (but ONLY relative to the chromed-up one).

If they want to have any sort of whatever little appeal they can have in this design, they need to get rid of all the chrome including the rings on the fog lamps and that horrible rear spoiler and spare wheel cover pronto.

PS: Overdrive posted a comparo between the Brezza, Nuvosport and TUV. Not a very comprehensive read, but the pictures give a fair idea of how the three physically stack up against each other.

Re: Mahindra Nuvosport is the updated Quanto

Had a chance to see the Nuvosport yesterday evening and it looks like a cross between a swelled-up hatch and 6-Seater rickshaw - wonder what the target demographic is for this car.
The TUV, apart from the undersized wheels, looks amazing. And with the more powerful engine coming up, who will buy the Nuvosport over the TUV?

Don't know why so many call Nuvosport ugly. Quanto was. It may not be very handsome looking but ugly, it is not. BTW, here is one smashing looking, found on google images.

Take a look at inside arrangements, cheap plastics, flimsy knobs, no ergonomics, oddly placed touch screen infotainment system and reclining second row causing rear jump seats going useless and many more... TUV interiors are way better than this cheapo.

That looks like a rendered image where the paint colors, gloss, ambient and diffuse lighting can be altered to get the best effect.
Take a look at one in person - its a bad mishmash.
(Offcourse looks are completely subjective and the above is just my opinion)
