Re: Toyota Kirloskar Motor gets a new MD

Interview of outgoing MD , TOYOTA India operating in losses 2 years back and capacity utilisation of 50 % even today perhaps due to Etios twins large investments and low sale ? , I hear they pay lowest margins to Dealers and their cars have least features , looks their parent company has not made any substantial investments and local units had to reinvest their earnings of past.

Two years later, as Ishii prepares to leave India to head the corporate plan ning division in Japan--his stint ended on March 16--he can look back with satisfaction. The labour unrest has long settled down. While capacity utilisation (50%) and market share (5%) haven't improved much, the company's financials have turned the corner. From a net loss of `63 crore in 2013-14, TKML bounced back a year later with a net profit of `529 crore.Return on sales (an indicator of operational efficiency), at -1.4% in 2013-14, now hovers over 5%.
