I think this looks a lot sharper and more defined than the Fabia inspired original. This follows the styling theme of the Octavia and the new Superb. Clean lines and sharp creases give it a modern, business-like attitude. It also looks a lot more cohesive now.

This new face looks so good. All the curves are gone, and in comes the lines and angles, to match with the rest of Skoda range. Especially, the smoked headlamps look delicious. Hope they are bi-xenon HIDs. However, I can't seem to make out the DRLs. Anyone able to see?
That slim chrome garnish on the boot lid, similar to Vento, looks good to me. Although, a little disappointed with the overall rear treatment. Those tail lights could have been worked upon and make more angular to match the front end styling. LEDs?
Overall, a good looking makeover. Also worth pointing out, the bright red colour. When all the other manufacturers are increasingly going for monochrome shades, I'm happy to see that Skoda is offering a bright happy shade, or two. Tempting me to risk my peace in life, and go for a Skoda.

No they're just the edges protruding giving us that impression. This is obvious with lighter shades

Very impressive! Never expected Skoda to do such a good facelift! It's a mini Octavia for sure and it captures Skoda's design language to the T.

Are those Vento/Polo Headlights? The design appears very similar to the headlamps of previous version Vento.

Unlikely. Rapid's headlights look more angular, and the kink at the bottom is more sharper, compared to the Vento's lights. I also feel, these are slightly taller as well. In comparison Vento's are sleeker and well rounded on the corners, including the bottom kink.

I like the overall look of the car but i have to say i cannot believe they had to outsource this to Mahindra and it took 2 years to develop !!
It seems that VW will continue to sell this for another 3-4 years and milk the current polo platform. They will probably bring in the new Polo and vento by end of next year and Skoda will continue with the older car.

Skoda is investing over 100 crores in the after sales department and will be launching four products before the end of 2017 which include Kodiaq premium SUV, Octavia Black edition, performance RS variant of Octavia and the Monte Carlo special edition of the Rapid.
