Rumour: Maruti dealers accepting bookings for new Swift

Maruti Suzuki is set to unveil the new Swift at the 2018 Auto Expo. While the carmaker is yet to formally open the order books, media reports suggest that some dealerships have starting accepting bookings for the next-generation Swift.

It has also been reported that those customers who have booked the current generation Swift will be getting the new model if stocks of the existing model run out. Meanwhile, fresh bookings are also being accepted at certain dealerships. There has been no word about the actual booking amount though. Further, dealers have told customers that deliveries will commence by the end of February 2018 or by early March.

The new Swift shares its platform with the Baleno. The third-generation Swift gets a completely new exterior styling featuring a redesigned grille and new headlamps with LED DRLs. In side profile, the car looks similar to the outgoing model, while the rear features a new set of wraparound tail lights. Recent spy images suggest that the India-spec Swift will get 5-spoke, diamond-cut alloy wheels. Also, the car is likely to receive an all-black interior and a touchscreen infotainment system on the centre console.

The new-gen Swift will be offered with the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines as the outgoing model. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an automatic.

Could somebody share a price list if available for this? Since Maruti has started bookings, they should have on road pricing along with final specifications for Indian version of Swift.

Im pretty sure that there would be no such price list available with any dealer in the country. Since the vehicle is not even launched or officially announced by Maruti, there is also no pricing announcements. If any dealers have quoted prices, it would be mere conjecture and nothing more substantial.

Re: Rumour: Maruti dealers accepting bookings for new Swift

What I am more interested in is whether the Swift Sport will be launched this time around or not. There are enough rumours and media reports to suggest that the 1.4 later BoosterJet powered Swift will indeed make it to our shores this time, albeit at a later date and not with the initial launch. The initial models will carry the same engines as are currently housed by the Swift.

Really hope that the enthusiasts are catered to by Maruti this time. High time that performance hatchbacks received their due in India.

Definitely another winner at maruti's hand. Since it based on Baleno platform i am hopeful that interior space would be improved vs the earlier model. Interiors might be in line with the new Dzire.

Pre bookings have started, not bookings.

That's the new trend across industries. To announce pre-bookings of a speculated product, and increase the hype by saying that the product is already sold out by so and so number even before the actual launch.

IIRC, DZire had 33k bookings even before the prices and final specs were revealed.

And of course, a very simple but clever way to make money for dealers. Consider the case of a popular manufacturer like Maruti, with respect to a model which is likely to set new records beating its own massive sales volumes for the past model (i.e. the Swift).

With each 'pre-booking' the dealer gets Rs. 11,000 or so from what I hear. Multiply this with the huge number of people likely to put in this relatively small sum, and you have yourself a plump little kitty of cash, which is ever expanding, and on which you start earning interest well before the product is even announced by the parent company.

The new Maruti Swift RS. Supposedly spied in India. Does this mean that we are not getting the Swift Sport?

Whatever I have read or seen till date, the speculation is that NextGen Swift will be getting the 1.0LBoosterjet in India along with the existing 1.2L VVT and 1.3L DDIS. Hence the nomenclature in the photos.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

I'm still inclined to think Maruti may offer a 1.0 BoosterJet Swift RS alongside the regular 1.2 VVT & 1.3 DDiS versions, and discontinue the Baleno RS altogether.

Swift becomes the sporty B-hatch and Baleno the roomy, practical, feature-rich family hatch.

SWIFT RS Variant in Japan is the MILD HYBRID, where as SL and SG are the HYBRID ones( w/electric motor).

The ones seen in the pics are the MILD HYBRID ones .

This variant could be available at the time of launch. Here the RS is with 1.2L engine and possible in a CVT configuration.

This is Sri Lanka, and the car shown here is the one imported by Indra Traders. This has a larger engine - 1,242cc (K12C), which means no excise benefits in India. The Indian Swift will have the 1.2 K-Series that displaces 1,198cc.

Cheers,

Jay

Thanks, Jay.

From the time I saw the pics, I kept wondering where I had seen them before. Here they are, from Indra Traders's FB page:

The white Swift's pic is from May 2017!

First GaadiWaadi, now Rush Lane. Looks like desperate times for the websites to do anything to cash in on the current raging trend of the upcoming 2018 Swift.

RushLane amends the title to its article.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

I am been planning to buy a premium hatch with an AT box for my father and had narrowed down to the search to the Baleno Alpha AT. Now the upcoming Swift makes things even more confusing specially with the news of it coming with AT boxes now. Really confusing to choose between a fresh model vs (now old) Baleno. On the other hand the Baleno has the CVT which is any day much smoother to drive than the AMT box on the Dzire ( I guess the swift will have the same transmission option).
