re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

The blue colour looks very classy and breakout from the monotonous Maruti color palate. Is it me who is think or may feels that huge resemblance to Mini Cooper??

2018 Swift reviews,

the 1.2 certainly delivers the goods. It's pretty quick, it's nice and responsive with the manual gearbox, it gives you pretty satisfying performance and is really the pick of the pack for me when it comes to the four drivetrain iterations that we are getting.

Around 80 kg lighter and strong top end performance from the petrol ( 4000-6200rpm) make the new car considerably quicker. 0-100 now in the low 13's.
More Reviews of the New Swift Drive,

Fuel efficiency :
- Petrol ~ 22km/L
- Diesel ~27 km/L

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

It has all the trappings of a runaway hit and boy has it matured! Maruti seems to have gone on a 'diet': lighter by approx 80kgs than the outgoing model! My pick would be the 1.2 Kseries (petrol) top end with a manual gear box. All other car makers would have a hollow feeling in the belly; within Maruti itself it may make the Baleno feel the heat 'Swift'ly; priced so close and based on the same platform and a lot lighter and sportier and the same set of engines. The Ignis may be "ignored" altogether!

Yes you are right sir, it does look like Mini Cooper from certain angles. I had observed and mentioned this when the official review of new Dzire was released. The headlamps do have some resemblance with mini cooper's.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

The ZDI plus Diamond cut alloys look plain ugly to me, they just don't look big enough and the tyres somehow look too high profile on these alloys, the ZDI alloys on the other hand look quite nice, what happens if I want the ZDI + with the ZDI alloys?

Someone like me will gladly exchange I am sure many ZDi owners will be willing to exchange their alloys for the one from top-end!

My friend was able to get the inbuilt ICE unit from an ZDi customer, who wanted to get the touchscreen unit from the accessories. With number of booking this car will get, this will be an easy task.

Hi, isn't the ground clearance a big issue? I had heard folks complain that the new DZire would bottom out on Big bumps when fully loaded, currently that's my only concern with this new Swift.

The petrol manual version has 84ps and 855kgs. Thats close to 98ps /ton..

Due to the light build - the power figures are looking good for enthusiasts now.

All this cribbing for a analogue temperature display in the year 2018 reminds me of my 45 year old Royal Enfield fanboy friend who still cribs that his Himalyan has no neutral finder 'killy' like the cast iron he had as a young boy.

If Maruti makes Dual airbags and ABS as standards across all variants then this car should be fantastic value even in the base trim, which i guess may be around the 5.5L mark ( on road Bangalore) since the Baleno base variant is around 6.2L I think.

Ignis is now for sure in serious trouble but that is not bad news for Maruti since sales anyway are from their own stable. But Hyundai should be worried, the new Swift has far more neutral looks than the original one in 2004/05. So the i10 Grand is also at a big risk of losing out sales. And as far as general perception goes, the Swift always commanded a better one than the i10 from day one.

Been driving the new Dzire for 3 months now. Never once have I scraped the bottom even when fully loaded with luggage in the boot and going over some pretty bad speed breakers. Yes big potholes might cause problems, but I just haven't come across one and so can't comment on that.

Everyone else thinks otherwise though. Doing a binge run of all the first drive videos and almost all of them praised the precise steering feel and the nose being "pointy" with great driveability. A test drive will clear things up.
