There is no badge on the version nor on whether it is a petrol or diesel (Ex: DDIS). I couldn't find any reference even in the engine bay.

I was told that this is a ZXi model and pricing will be 40-50K less than the current Dzire.
The tyres are "ECOPIA". I have never heard of this brand.

It's a ZXi+, not ZXi. The giveaways are alloys and LED headlamps. ZXi has different alloys .

Thats an empty looking engine bay. Its practically begging for a 1.5. Hope the rumours of it coming to India are true.

What is the silver insert on the bottom part of the steering wheel? Isn't the steering supposed to be an all black unit? the silver looks super tacky as compared to a proper all black version. This one does not look at all like the version shown on all promotional pics.

Going by the coil-on spark plugs and the manifold based cat con, its safe to assume that its the famous K12 series petrol, however the engine is speculated to be tuned for better performance.

Even the 2017 Honda City wears Bridgestone Ecopia EP150 tyres for the top variants (picture) i.e. VX and ZX.

They are anyday better than those noisy and hard JK tyres and MRFs. I would say, overall they are a tad better then Goodyears but cannot come close to Michelins.

No, they are 15 inch alloys. On close observation you can read 185/65 R15 88T just below ECOPIA on the tyre.

Yes, in some of the pics in previous pages, it is complete black. Maybe the top variant gets this silver touch. I am not sure though.

As pointed out by OSH, it is 185/65 R15

This was one the best video's EVER that has come out as a story for the Swift, amazing stuff and echo's so much of the feeling a Swift customer goes through.

Kudos to these guys for making this

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Give way for the king of the compact cars - All New 2018 SWIFT.

Maruti Suzuki receives over 30,000 bookings for the new Swift. Actual numbers will be known on 8th Feb.

Quote:
it has received more than 30,000 bookings for its all-new generation Swift to be launched on February 8 at the Auto Expo. But, the company also hinted that price of the third generation may not be as consumer-friendly as the previous two generations and is expected to be much higher.
Quote:
we have not announced the price we can’t have a say on number of bookings as some people might cancel the bookings after the real prices are announced
The outgoing Swift had a price tag of ₹5.23 lakh as a starting price.

Baleno Sigma Petrol starts at 5.35L ex showroom Delhi. There is just no room for Maruti to further hike the prices.

Would be a really stupid move if they position Swift above Baleno, considering the missing features and comparatively lesser space and smaller dimensions.

Exactly. Maruti can't price Swift higher than their premium hatchback Baleno sold through Nexa. Maruti has skipped many features in lower variants. I am sure this is done to keep the price of new Swift between Ignis and Baleno .

The previous-gen Swift had a starting price of Rs 4.91 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Base (LXi O) variant, stretching to Rs 7.57 lakhs for the top (ZDI) variant.

Moreover, the new DZire starts at around the Rs 5.5 lakhs mark.

If I have to take a guess, I'd say that the new Swift's pricing might start at around Rs 4.99 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. And, since there's an ZDI (O)/AGS variant this time around with considerably more kit than the outgoing-gen, the top variant should go past the Rs 8 lakhs mark.

AGS variants should be priced at around 47K-48K above their manual counterparts.

Delhi ex-showroom price for Swift LXi is 4.8L, and Baleno Sigma is 5.35L. They can price around 4.9L for the LXi, at maximum. Anything above that will be a pricing disaster waiting to happen. (I remember the Swift was launched in India in 2005 at around 3.9L which was a very very good pricing even at that time.)

If the rumors of a staggering price hike is true, then Suzuki is executing their hidden plans of the Gujarat plant, IMO. Will they try to milk the brand Swift? With Ignis, Baleno and DZire priced below and above Swift, they may be expecting the following:

i. People will queue up to buy the brand Swift. So, an increased price will give them more profit than what they miss in losing sales.
ii. Ignis priced around 4.65L for the base Sigma, may find more takers.
iii. People will shift to Baleno or Dzire if the Swift price is close to them.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

Maruti Suzuki shifts Baleno production to Haryana to make way for the all-new Swift in Gujarat.

Quote:
Maruti Suzuki has shifted production of the Baleno from its new factory in Hansalpur, Gujarat, to Manesar in Haryana. This is because the company anticipates huge demand for the all-new Swift, which will now be built at Hansalpur. The Hansalpur factory has a yearly capacity of 2.5 lakh cars, and this should be enough to meet demand for the all-new Swift. Maruti’s senior executive director, RS Kalsi, has already indicated that the new Swift could do much more than 15,000 units/month due to the new variants and features that the 2018 car packs in.
