If you are shifting to Petrol, you should wait for the new Swift to be launched - whatever time Maruti takes to launch it here. It is as clear as this: don't buy the i20 Petrol.

As of I know, New Swift will hit the International Market by mid 2017. So expect it to be in India after 16-17 months and not in your time frame of 6-7

And regarding the jump, PLEASE do not gor for the i20 Petrol, it's a DUD and take it from me as am ex-i20ian. If you are ready to wait till this year end, maybe you can wait for Baleno 1.0 (rumours has it for Diwali launch). Else go for the Baleno ALPHA Petrol, sure you will not be disappointed

From these pictures the rear door handle is now certain to be vertically placed ala Chevy Beat. What a dumb idea.

The Rear door handle position should be to mask the small size of the rear door.
that explains the rear space then.

If there was a definite time frame for the launch then would have waited probably.

Thanks for the feedback. Finally decided to go for the Swift again. Booked the Lxi O variant yesterday. Got a good deal so it was a no brainer. Baleno had a waiting of 6 months !

Faithless 1984, can you share the details of the deal you got? I'm also in Delhi and presently confused between the Celerio top model, Swift and Dzire, Petrol or Diesel, would have loved to get the Polo TSI but it's too expensive!

The vehicle seems to be sitting much lower than the current gen Swift. Looks like we've got a great handler in the making ! Love the stance.

This is looking great. I just hope MS keeps the DNA of the original Swift, i.e. the car should actually be "swift" and not a "kitna deti hai".

I had a Swift from the first lots years back and the car was just fabulous as compared to the Dzire I have now (both petrols) to drive. At least I hope they will give the BJet engine as an option like in Europe.

I got a good buyback on my old swift plus a cash discount of 6k and they also matched the lower insurance quote which i got from my insurance agent.

There's currently not a lot of price gap between the swift and Baleno. I'm just curious how these two cars will be positioned once the 2017 swift is launched. Will they be priced alongside? The all new swift I would have thought might have wanted to move marginally up on the price curve but that'll bring it smack alongside Baleno. Any inputs anyone?

My guess work is the Swift will remain less on interior space (compared to Baleno) and should be more or less the same as the overall design is more of an evolution of the current gen. With this, the Baleno will remain a 'bigger' offering compared and hence will be more expensive or Swift will be slotted below the Baleno. Since it's going to come after an year or so, we can expect one or two price revisions till then and may create a better pricing gap which will allow for a higher price for the Swift as well.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

2017 Swift will come with the SHVS Mild Hybrid technology. Will be unveiled on September 29th 2016.

Quote:
The older and bigger sibling(Baleno) of the next-generation Suzuki Swift relies on an ISG (integrated starter generator, as in an electric motor) to assist the engine during acceleration. The Suzuki ISG system also happens to generate electricity thanks to regenerative braking.
In other words, the Baleno SHVS (and the soon-to-debut Swift SHVS) are relatively related to the Ferrari LaFerrari hybrid hypercar. The tell-tale sign that the spied prototype is a 2017 Suzuki Swift SHVS comes in the form of an LCD display integrated into the instrument cluster which shows that the lithium-ion battery is 80 percent charged.
Quote:
it is worth mentioning that the two analog gauges which flank the LCD display bear a resemblance to something you might find in a Mercedes-Benz. A flat-bottom steering wheel is also on the menu, laden with cheap-looking plastic. The quality and finish of the plastics on the dashboard, however, appear to have gone up
