re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Swift - Now Launched!

I am already planning on upgrading from the budget Bridgestone Ecopia’s to a softer spec tyre. Unfortunately Michelin primacy 3st is not available in this 185 65 r15 but in 195 65 r15. Are there any known disadvantages of upgrading to this wider tyre apart from reduction in mileage?
Any suggestions on tyres in 185 65 r15?

Clever, it looks like you cannot add fog lamps to VXI/LXI models from the videos. Lower models need to have provision to add these necessary accessories.

Well Michelin XM2 are available in 185/65 R15 size, we had Michelin XM2s on our erstwhile Punto. They lasted a cool 80k kilometers & we were satisfied with its overall performance. There is also the Continental CC5 in your size, you might also consider the Continentals. The last I heard is that Continental have started manufacturing in India & hence has a price advantage w.r.t equivalent Michelin tyres.

If you are upgrading to a wider tyre, I would suggest 195/60 R15. This is a very common size & you can get Michelin Primary 3ST (your preferred tyre) in this size. AFAIK 195/60 R15 would be a more correct upgrade than 195/65 R15, the latter would have a bigger diameter difference. Base variants of Fiat Punto comes with 165/80 R14 (same as swift base variants) & top variant of Punto comes with 195/60 R15 (what I am suggesting for your swift). I personally don't think that there would be a noticeable decrease in fuel efficiency with a reasonable increase in the width of the tyres, we upgraded our erstwhile Punto's tyre from 165/80 R14 to 185/70 R14 without noticing any decrease in FE numbers.

Michelin XM2 & Continental CC5 in your stock size

Is there any plans of an RS version? Sorry to ask as I have not followed the thread since inception.

I see this Swift going straight to 20k a month on the sales chart.

I am getting a feeling that the brushed silver panel on the dash can be easily replaced just like the Brezza, and other finishes will be offered as an accessory in MGA. L Variants get matte carbon fiber finish there.

Thanks a lot. And I'm glad you shared it on the forum rather than pinging me in person, as it will probably help a wider audience.

There are rumours of a 1.0L boosterjet, and some auto-journos are contemplating the 1.4L Swift Sports too. From whatever info I am getting, we may see a Swift 1.0 RS in festive season this year.

Shashi

They can be added, you'll need to change the fog lamp shroud to that of Z models which is not an expensive item.

Shashi

Changing is perfectly fine. It should be easily available though. Older cars were having provision for fogs and only the lamp holders were cut before fitting the lamps.
Person like me will go for VXI and add one accessory at a time, the way I did for my Estilo and Santro

Yes that's a commonly available item.

The lower variants of Ciaz comes with the same tire specification and I had a lot of confusion in recommending tires for my cousin's car. The issue is that moving to 195/60R15 reduces the ground clearance as per the Tire Sizing tools. Finally we stuck to the stock tire size and went in for Michelin XM2s

I would recommend that you read thru the following posts before taking a final decision:

1. Comparison of 195/60R15 vs 195/65R15 - URL

2. A more layman - Visual comparison - URL

Just a general question to those who have booked the Swift and also those who are considering it.

Any reason you guys are not waiting for or considering the new Santro? From what I’ve heard, it’s release is around the corner now.

Santro is a half segment lower. It would be in WagonR / Celerio segment. And will likely be best in that segment.

Suddenly there has been a blackout of news about the new Santro. The Santro if released at the expo will definitely eat into the Swift's sales. Hopefully i will have a choice of a tacky Estilo looking Swift ZXi at premium price or a modern looking Santro at a savings of atleast 2lacs over the Swift price to drive around in the city. Will i be lucky or forced to pay more for the tacky Estilo like SwiftZXi as the ZXiplus Swift is going to price close to 9lacs, if the all new Santro doesn't show up for now?.Who does old Mr.Suzuki know?.Suzuki sold zero cars in the Malaysian car market in Dec2017.

Comparing apples with oranges, that sort of comparison really.
Santro will slot above the eon and below the grand i10 which itself is half a segment below the swift.
