What does unveiling mean- does this imply that prices would also be announced tomorrow? Or would they be revealed at the Auto Expo? In any case, Ill wait for the Swift Sport (whether with the Boosterjet 1.4 or 1.0 engine) or better still, the 1.5 diesel which seems to be in the works.

Not much seems to be known about the latter engine (in house Suzuki 1.5 diesel), but if it is at par (or anywhere close) specs wise with the Figo/ Nexon engines, then I expect the Swift to be a diesel rocket, given its substantial weight advantage over direct competitors

Will Maruti launch that version here? I'd be willing to wait for that one too, but will it come to India? I hope so too, but right now all I see is speculation that this and the hybrid variants will be launched in India, but that's what auto mags and blogs do best.

Sadly, historical indications are not too positive, but then we are eternal optimists and therefore do not hesitate to hope. On other other hand, given the way that high powered motorcycle market has evolved in India I see no reason why the hot hatches will not find acceptance in a slow but sure manner.

As per rumours, RS Swift(or Swift RS) with 1 Lt Boosterjet engine will be offered from NEXA chain. Swift sports with the 1.4-litre turbocharged Boosterjet engine with 138 Bhp and 230 nm of torque looks like a distant dream.

I doubt prices will be announced along with unveiling. This will more or less showing the new car and the specs + features I'd assume. It should be around the launch @ Auto Expo they'll announce the price.

Media drives start tomorrow. Embargo till 20th. So, it's more of a reveal. Prices will come only during the Expo.

Cheers,

Jay

Now this raises some interesting questions. Because the Multijet was not capable of acheiving this in the present form, and was expected to die because manufacturers were moving away to their in-house engines.

So whats going to help Suzuki achieve a BS VI? Multijet II? Inhouse diesel? Or some temporary jugaad on the current multijet till the inhouse engines takeover?

Being BS-VI compliant may also mean that the engine bay is ready to accept the new 1.5L engine or its downsized version. Just my thought. Or maybe like CrAzY dRiVeR has mentioned, a Multijet ll!

Thank you for the exhaustive information!

Any news which the birdie was able to provide on the likelihood of the Swift Sport being launched at a later point? By the way, mainstream magazines continue to remain optimistic about the launch of the 1.4 Liter BoosterJet at a later point in time.

I believe that those are 185/65R15 tyres similar to the ones on the DZire. If that is actually true, I would love to put those alloys on my Baleno Delta.

Also, I did zoom and check out the picture. Do I spot a rear disc? I do understand that none of the competing cars have one and I dont expect Maruti to put it there. But am I seeing things?

Same as my thought. I see disc breaks at the rear too! If they are indeed coming up with this setup, it would certainly be a welcome move!
