A Birdie confirms the "Kicks" project for Indian market. Planned for market launch by early 2018.
Both Kicks & Kaptur has some good potential to compete with market leader Creta, but pricing has to be precise for both, else they will be dead on arrival.

I really hope Renault does a 7 seater version of this. The duster can be the 5 seater version that is at a 10-13 Lakh range and this can be at 15-20 lakh range competing against the XUV500 and would then hold an advantage against the Creta.

Duster 7 seater is already being spied, hence Kaptur is not likely to come in the 7 seat configuration.

I'm not sure how that would PAN out. Duster based captur to be more expensive than the 7 seater duster version? I really don't think Renault is going to have 3 SUVs together in the 12-20 lakh price point. Either they have the current duster and the captur and price the captur slightly premium else get the captur as a 7 seater and price it well above the duster.

Not sure about the 7 Seater version, but a Kaptur on a Duster platform with more premium build definitely makes sense. Especially given that magic carpet of the Duster mechanicals.

I have a Duster and when it comes to change, I sure would be fighting out all over to find a match for that ride. A Kaptur definitely makes sense.

The India-bound Kaptur caught almost completely undisguised by (Brazilian auto site) Autos Segredos's reader.

Is it just me or does the rear resemble that of the Duster?
Maybe the pics don't do justice but somehow I am not too enthused by the Kaptur's looks from them.

Just read about the Kaptur on Autocar. A bit disappointing to learn that the petrol version is mated to a 4 speed gearbox which is pretty lethargic.
I suppose by the time it gets to India, it will get stripped down on various fronts.:Frustrati
(Sorry for the back to back posts - though with a longish time gap)

Renault prioritizes 'Captur'over Kwid for Brazil . To go on sale early 2017. Sits a segment above Duster in the product portfolio.

Is it Captur or Kaptur? I was under the impression that the 'emerging markets' were to get Kaptur and not Captur (which is on a different platform).

Yes - hence my confusion. I read that the Captur is smaller than the Kaptur - and that the Kaptur is much more robust as well.
So is it Kaptur for Brazil or the European Captur?

Kaptur is for Brazil , since it is based on the Duster platform.

Latest spy shots of the Kaptur by Autos Segredos Brazil show a dual-tone dashboard.

This is in contrast to the Russian-spec Kaptur which gets an all-black dash.

Yes it will rival the XUV. Speculated to launch in late 2017 /early 2018.

Renault's Kaptur will rival the XUV5OO and will be a segment higher than Duster.

Already on sale in Russia, the Renault Kaptur India will be positioned above the Duster SUV. It will directly rival the Mahindra XUV500. Based on the MO platform that also underpins the Renault Duster, the crossover will be locally developed at the company’s Chennai based plant.

This will be launched in Apr2017 and it will be a 5 seater. It will be positioned above Duster and competing with XUV and Creta. Expected to be more luxurious than Duster.
