EV Push, first, on two-wheeler and three-wheeler segment, makes sense in the current Scenario,rather than going all out on phasing out all ICE Vehicles.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement clarifying that the Centre is technology-agnostic on the automobile sector.

Prime Minister :

India has a large enough market and big enough policy space to ensure growth of internal combustion engine (ICE)-based automobiles as well as electric vehicles (EVs). We are in a unique situation where both ICE and EV-based automobiles can co-exist, co-create and learn from each other

Politicians keep belting out one BS after another. I would like to see him put his money where his mouth is. Probably it is because of this 'unique' situation that hybrid vehicles are taxed at 43% while ICE vehicles are taxed at 28%. Basic common sense dictates that hybrids are no more polluting than ICE vehicles and hence, in the worst case, should be taxed only as much as ICE vehicles and not a dime more. An electric ICE hybrid in fact will emit far lesser pollutants especially in cities where the lower running speed is handled exclusively by the electric motor. There is very little we can do as a nation when pea brained politicians act exact opposite to their stated policy.

I doubt whether it will be that soon. But you never know. With the current dispensation it is possible. But who knows what will happen by then.

Another Twist in the EV saga - Govt to go slow on e-vehicle push

The government is likely to go slow on pushing electric mobility for the next few months, arguing that it has to be sympathetic to the slowdown in the auto sector
The proposal to ban the sale of internal combustion engine (ICE) three-wheelers after 2023 and two-wheelers of engine capacity up to 150cc is also not being pushed aggressively,

this proposal may not go through considering that even the Supreme Court had earlier turned down the same plea of the auto manufacturers

Niti Aayog has no authority on deciding vehicle technology: Minister

Union road transport and highways minister on Friday said Niti Aayog has no authority to take a call on vehicle technology and it's his ministry which has the mandate. He said there will be no ban on diesel and petrol vehicles as suggested by Niti Aayog.

The Minister responsible for the 'bull dozing' statement, if auto companies do not tag along the EV path, now makes a statement when the slump in auto industry reaches a point of no-return in sight.

the government has no intentions of banning petrol or diesel cars in the country. There is a concern that the government will ban internal combustion engine vehicles, but it is well aware of the contribution that India's automobile industry is making to the country's exports and employment. He said that the industry had witnessed high volumes in terms of exports.

Talk about a U-turn !!!
If nothing else, good old bureaucracy will alone be responsible for delay in EV migration.
And to re-iterate what I had said earlier... India will not be ready with an infrastructure for EVs, primarily due to the fact that oil companies will bend the govt into continuing with fossil fuel.
