And the Etios scored a solid 4 on the NCAP rating. Despite the thickness or rather the thinness of the sheet metal used, the bones/structure of the car are strong.

I agree with you. But that's what the cab driver said.
Sure Etios is still a favourite among the cabbies.

He also did mention about an accident of his Etios and that he had to shell out close to a lakh for body repairs.

I spotted the refreshed Etios on test while on my way to Chennai last Monday (29th Aug). The spotting was between Krishnagiri and Ranipet. The car was camouflaged only in the front and rear and the rest of the body did not seem to have any change. I tried to drive in parallel to the car for a bit to check out the interiors. The few seconds I managed to peep, I could not find any difference. It was the black and beige combo itself with the dials right in the middle. The speedometer looked like the analog one which is present in the current Etios.

Sorry, no pictures. I was driving and my wife did not find anything amusing in a test mule that was worthy enough to be pictured.

Oh! Come on

I know it isn't the best of the looker. But the silver/gray shade is looking quite good. The redesigned bumper is a looker IMO.

I know beauty is subjective but we don't have many cars here that can even qualify for that pageant.

I might be in the minority but they should have gotten a Auto box as well.
Being a major player in the biggest Automatic transmission market, they have quite the expertise in it and could have easily gotten a Auto box for both the petrol and diesel car.

The new grill is far better than the old one. And is better than the out-of-place grill of Baleno.

Is it just me, or does the lower part of the grille / bumper resemble the Honda Amaze facelift ?

The Liva would surely look better if those chrome surrounds for the fog lamps are also removed.

Hope Toyota adds power folding mirrors and a front central armrest console to the VX/ VXD variants.

Looks like except the instrument cluster, most of the other things can be retrofitted by the old Etios owners.

Is it only the colour that has been changed, or has the steering wheel changed as a whole?

The best part about this facelift is that both the Etios and Liva now get beefed-up rear bumpers.

The Liva Cross was the only car in the earlier Etios line-up that had a good, protruding rear bumper. The regular Liva & Etios get them now as well.

Just compare the old rear bumper with the new one:





The facelifted version's bumper may only be an inch or two thicker, but it's surely miles ahead in proving protection to the hatch/boot lid and rear tail-lamps.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why some idiotic car designers treat the rear bumper as a mere cosmetic piece, instead of the highly functional one it is meant to be!

It's good to see that Toyota have made amends here.
