Re: Honda Civic likely to return to India

A Honda Civic sedan without a Hofmeister Kink. They definitely want to go off the past.

Re: Honda Civic likely to return to India

Pakistan is a bigger market for Honda as compared to India?

And they are getting the turbo petrol as well, so hopefully makes it to our shores too! The red, in particular looks smashing. Looks like the turbo RS variant due to the absence of chrome elements.

Civics are direct imports in Pakistan so it should be easier and quicker to launch cars there. In India I guess they have to prep for local assembly and hence it is getting delayed.
P.S this new model costs north of 35 Lakhs in Pakistan

The market itself is probably not bigger in terms of pure numbers. Having said that, the City+Civic can be considered Honda's 'bread and butter' models and these are the only two that gives it some volumes in a small market(Even then, considering the cost, I assume it is only for premium buyers). (Related thread (Pakistan Car Sales (July-Oct 2015) and an analysis of their Auto Industry) on Pakistan's car sales in 2015. The market is pretty much owned by Honda, Toyota and Suzuki and no one else has presence there.

Additionally of course, as mentioned above, there is no local manufacturing, so it is pretty simple for Honda to get in the latest version and due to the lack of competition and niche market for it, the price will not be an issue. In addition to the Civic, Pakistan gets cars like the CR-Z, HR V and Accord which are not available in India.

Re: Honda Civic likely to return to India

The India-bound 2016 Honda Civic has been launched in Malaysia.

The 3 variants of the Malaysian Civic include 2 with the 1.5L turbocharged VTEC engine, which pumps out 173PS of power and 220Nm of torque.

The 3rd variant is equipped with a 1.8L naturally-aspirated VTEC heart, which is capable of 141PS of power and 174Nm of torque, which is the one we could most likely see in the Indian Civic, when it is showcased in India next year.

The city-ish like interiors don't justify the awesome exterior looks. Prefer my current civic steering over this city - ish one. Just my personal opinion.

City?? At first glance, it looked like BR-V interior to me. Hope Honda come up with a better interior design.

Re: Honda Civic likely to return to India

This is definitely my next car!! I have been watching review videos of the car and all of them have come up with positive views. And I love the way it looks as well. The last gen Civic was a dream. I still remember the first time I saw it in 2007. I was 17 back then. Looks like I will fulfill my dream with this one.

I am assuming the price will touch 20L. Correct me if I am wrong guys. Eagerly waiting for its launch.

Re: Honda Civic likely to return to India

Just amazing looks ! I dont see City interiors in there and even if it's I dont complain.

I dont know which model, but I see the side profile and the roof-line similar to one of the "Acura" models. Again, its OK to be like that.

I assume, it would be the Top-end but I dont see the Sun roof in the promotional video.

Prem.

Well, I for one really like the interiors. I think it's dashboard is one of the best in its class in terms of design. Only the Octavia beats it IMO. It's so nice to finally see a genuinely good looking Honda interior, especially after the Mobilio

The original civic was a classic, it really stood out and does even now. Somehow this one looks overdone and you can easily mistake it for a Hyundai or Nissan. The civic DNA is just missing..

Only the design near the head-unit area seems a bit off, Maybe thats just for me, Also have to wait and see how the built quality comes out in front of the germans.

Re: Honda Civic likely to return to India

For me one of the reasons the Civic stood out from the rest because of the dual dasboard design which when lit up still looks futuristic. Maybe the dash here does not atleast to me look that fancy maybe because the gizmos and lights are swtiched off. The interior looks like any other car but better pics might do justice. Still looking forward to see this here
