Re: Ford launches EcoSport Black Edition at Rs. 8.58 lakh

Other than the alloys, it's easy to mistake it for the Ambiente variant
And I doubt the Black editions will get any higher degree of window tint than the regular models.

I thought there was a change in interior too.
Looks more mean in new looks.

I believe it comes with all black interiors which should have been highlighted in the news release.

I do not see any difference in the headlights. Someone mentioned that they are blackened from the inside. Not apparent in the picture.

If you look closely, you can notice a tinge of black in the headlight unit. Some more pictures showing the interiors.

Unless they offer something much more than cosmetic quirks, special editions just become dated oddities.

Anyway, it doesn't take much to change a few colours --- and the marketing guys think we should all be getting excited about it.

Yes, I'm a cynical old grump, but really...

the EcoSport Black Edition gains:

- a black grille,
- black 16-inch alloy wheels,
- black foglight bezels,
- black-out moulded headlamps,
- black wing mirror covers,
- black roof rails and
- black roof cross bars.
... gains?

I too think it looks rather brilliant in white / silver. We were about to get the titanium + and I'm thinking of shifting to this. Opinions?
The 18k is actually a 12k premium since the roof cross bars cost about 6k.

Go for it. I think it looks HOT. The blackened effect truly suits the EcoSport which is a funky design to begin with. If I was buying, I'd also get the roof blackened from 3M.

That's a good comparison pic. Looking both together, I'd go for the regular version for the red colour. I didn't find the white colour appealing but the black looks better.

I still see the interior is dual tone & not all black; that's a sad blue tone for the lower dash. All black would have been awesome.

I would prefer the regular version over the black edition but then again all black interiors of the Black edition has it's own charm. A great way to put a consumer into dilemma.
All the cars should come with an option of Beige or black interiors.
Am glad atleast Ford doesn't use excessive beige in their vehicles and Ecosport just has brushed silver highlights instead of black.

I think the black edition looks really good. Given a choice i would choose piano black over chrome anyday.

These black editions are offered by quite a few manufacturers in other countries. Dodge calls it blacktop edition IIRC.

I hope Mahindra offers a XUV and TUV black edition! Will look so much better.

Re: Ford launches EcoSport Black Edition at Rs. 8.58 lakh

I think the regular version looks premium/upmarket than the black edition. Yes, it might be a lucrative offer for a Trend buyer, but I doubt if a Titanium buyer would get this special edition (unless he/she bought it for future mods purpose at the first place).

A gunmetal finish to the alloys would have looked much better. The design of the OEM alloys of Eco Sport is second only to diamond-cut wheels from Hyundai (& Nissan also). Ford should have let them remain as they were, instead of hiding the design with the black finish. Now they look similar to what Maruti had done on Swift RS' wheelcaps. A gunmetal grey finish (like a grey edition) would have looked uber cool.

These are a few pictures I was able to take today of the titanium varient. I thought I'd share them since there are no photos on the Internet yet.

My quick opinion is that the edition is interesting, but not brilliant primarily for two reasons. One, it resembles the 'ambient' quite a bit, especially because of the mirrors. Two, the price turns out to be much higher because dealers are giving decent discounts on the older model, and negligible ones on the black edition.

I did not find the interior to be different.

From these pictures it indeed looks like a base variant especially from the front (Grille mainly). The shade too isn't complimenting Black bits of the car, regular variant definitely makes much more sense atleast to me. Instead of a black paint job, I would have loved to see some different shades of gray like Davy's gray, Jet or Gunmetal, would have complimented the overall look much more!
Did anyone notice the rear bumper? Why does it feel like it's not even given a paint job.
