Ford announces recall for 48,000 EcoSport Diesels; fuel & brake line clip and 60:40 seat bolts

Ford India has announced that it will recall 48,000 EcoSport diesel vehicles.

The recall is to install a new bundle clip on the fuel and brake lines. The recalled Ecosports have been manufactured between April 2013 and June 2014. This is Ford's fourth recall for the Ecosport. 85k units have been recalled as part of previous recalls till date.

Quote:
"In its commitment to quality and complete transparency, Ford India is issuing two voluntary safety recalls to correct potential concerns with certain Ford EcoSport vehicles.

In addition to the recall for the bundle clip, Ford India is also writing to customers of approximately 700 EcoSport vehicles, made between January 2016 and February 2016, and fitted with a 60/40 rear folding seat.

Ford in a statement said that on certain vehicles, the 40% rear seat backrest might have been assembled with bolts that do not meet Ford's material specification, potentially causing the bolts to break.

Ford is asking owners to contact the nearest dealer so that the necessary changes can be done.

My Ecosport is Jan 2016 production date, I have not got any message from Ford yet. It was at the workshop for it's 1st service 2 days back. I would assume the dealers would know of the recall prior to it being made public information.

Guess they will request a visit soon !
