The upcoming model of the Audi Q5 boasts of attractive refreshments to the looks with an all-new set of headlamps carrying LED day time running lights and more appealing front grille added with chrome accents. The overall design has been updated to Audi’s new trend bearing a resemblance to the A4 sedan and giant Q7. At the rear, the tail lamps get a new set of lights with a better design.

The concept of Family look in car manufacturers has killed design variations among siblings, at least in terms of looks.
Key differentiation is now the size and may be, some exclusive feastures.
Q3 is smaller version of Q5, which is smaller version of Q7, same is the story of creta, tuscon, santafe, ameo, vento, jetta...
The list goes on.
I, for one, find it really boring to see cars, all looking more of less the same.

Any idea if the outgoing Q5 will have any deals before Audi phases it out and the new one is launched later this year??? I am aware that the new one is a huge step up in terms of tech, but the old Q5 is still a great product and also a handsome car..

Closer to the launch of the new one, there will definitely be some tempting deals on the outgoing Q5 as they will want to get rid of stock before the new model launches.

There's hardly any Q5 stocks left anywhere, last I inquired the Q5 had flat 8L discount on the ex showroom but this was in March when they had a handful of cars left manufacturered in 2016. I don't think Audi India manufactured any of the last gen Q5 in 2017.

I checked in Hyderabad in the month of May and was informed that the Q5 is no longer available for sale. The sales guy mentioned that with the new Q5 expected soon, the company had asked all dealers to stop selling the current generation of Q5. He said they might announce discounted prices for the old generation once the company decides to launch the new generation but until then, the current generation of Q5's will not be on sale.

My guess is that they have already cleared the previous gen Q5 stock. Why would they stop the sale and wait for the next gen's announcements to liquidate the dead stock. Doesn't seem like a logical move, if true.

Any further news on when we can expect the new Q5 in India? I thought we might hear something on this once GST is rolled out but can't find any updates on the Q5.

Q5 will be launching in the month of August. It will be priced around 75lacs for topend models.

Thanks but the price can't be right. 75 lacs seems really steep, especially post GST. That's X5, Q7 territory. It should be around 50 - 55.

Thanks, couple of my friends are working in Audi, they told that the top end might touch 70-75lacs. ( Top End )

The was a Q5 Z for sale in carwale, Bangalore registered 3 litre V6, the seller mentioned in the additional information section that it cost 77 lakhs when new. I'm not saying that it was the price of purchase but at least it's what the official price list would state.

75 lakhs for a SQ5 is possible, the smaller engines will be cheaper and trim lines account for bigger differences

With the car rumoured to be launched mid 2017, there is surprisingly little news about it. Not sure if Audi plans on launching it any time soon.

If launched, the SQ5 being a CBU, I don't see it priced anything less than 90L. My guess is it would hit 1Cr.

The second generation Q5 has been spotted in India on a few occasions but recently, an undisguised test mule was snapped in Pune.



The 2017 Audi Q5 is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MLB Evo platform, which it shares with the Q7 and A4 sedan. Compared to the outgoing model, the new Q5 is longer, wider and has a longer wheelbase as well. Audi claims that the use of lightweight, high strength steel and aluminum in the construction of the platform has helped in reducing the weight of the new model by up to 90 kg.



On the outside, the new Q5 has been given a subtle makeover. It now features a single-frame chrome grille like the Q7 which is flanked by LED headlights and re-styled LED DRLs. Higher variants of the Q5 are likely to get Audi’s Matrix LED headlights. In the side profile, the new Q5 looks almost identical to the outgoing model. At the rear, it features a similarly shaped tail gate and re-profiled LED tail lamps with optional dynamic turn signals.



Audi has updated the Q5’s instrument cluster with the Virtual Cockpit system consisting of a 12.3-inch display. In addition to that, a floating 7.0/8.3-inch touchscreen sits on the top of the centre console.

Audi offers a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel on the current Q5. This engine produces 174 BHP @ 4,200 rpm and 380 Nm @ 1,750-2,500 rpm. It is paired with a 7-speed S tronic gearbox and has the Quattro all-wheel drive system. Audi is yet to confirm the engines that will be on offer on second generation Q5 in India.
