Audi should consider a badge saying Q5 2nd Gen on the back of the car. The designs from 3 Germans are getting boring and all the cars in their lineup look the same, just that one is longer/taller than the other.

Couldn't agree more. But then some people think the Q5 already looked so good that they didn't need to do much. In my opinion, they have played it safe. The Q5 is a top seller for Audi and they just didn't want to upset the customers by making too radical a change in the design. The interiors are top notch apparently so for prospective customers, they get what the like on the outside, with modern, contemporary interiors. Read somewhere that there won't be a V6 3 litre engine on offer for this, which is a shame.

With a couple of days left for its launch, Audi Q5 appears in its portal.

I think this is the most expensive car in the segment now after the F-Pace. Audi won't find it easy to sell given that it looks so similar to the previous gen and stiff competition from Mercedes GLC and the new Volvo XC60. The BMW X3 will soon join the party.

I have seen quite a few international reviews on the car and it is rated quite highly and tends to pip the current X3 and GLC in most comparos. Its strong suits seem to be refined engine and transmission, high quality interiors, good ride and practical interiors. Virtual cockpit is the party trick of this car.

Interiors of Audi have always been a strong point, but with the likes of Volvo XC60 and the upcoming X3, I don’t think that will stay as an USP. The main problem I see with the Q5 is the way it looks – It doesn’t bring that freshness associated with a new generation model.

Don't want to raise too many eyebrows around here, but I think Audi didn't even try to make the new Q5 desirable. I speak as an owner of the now previous gen Q5, and the only thing I miss is the Virtual Cockpit.

Playing too safe may lead Audi to become boring, which it already has, to a certain extent, with the same looks on all its latest launches, save for the beautiful A5.

It is boring already. The dealers will have tough time selling Q5 as an all new model. If a regular bloke asks me how to differentiate a new Q5 from older All I need to say is " If there are 2 TV's in Q5, voila-it should be latest gen".

It will be hard for prospective buyers of the segment to choose it over Volvo XC60. There are already healthy number of previous gens Q5 on the road & this one doesn't look much different from them. Audi A series & Q series aren't a head turner anymore, they are now labelled as 'boring'.

I find this tall claim VERY hard to believe, but here's what Audi has to say:

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, today announced that the company has received over 500 bookings for the all new Audi Q5 model, which was recently launched in India.

It's not that surprising. The previous Q5 was a bit and the new one is even more competent and very very practical. And Audi being Audi, I'm sure they would be providing discounts from the first day itself. It's much better than the GLC and the new X3 is still not launched.

Rumour: Audi Q5 petrol to be launched on June 28, 2018

Audi is reportedly planning to launch a petrol variant of the Q5 on June 28, 2018.

Reports suggest that the petrol Q5 is likely to be offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is currently available on the Q7 40 TFSI. It produces 248 BHP @ 5,000-6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 370 Nm @ 1,600-4,500 rpm and comes paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. However, the Q5 is expected to get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

In terms of features, the petrol Q5 will get an 8.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit. The car is likely to come equipped with a 3-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, power tail gate, adaptive dampers, airbags, ABS with EBD and electronic stability control (ESC) among others.

The second generation Audi Q5 was launched in India in January this year. It is offered in two trim levels and is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 188 BHP @ 3,800-4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 400 Nm @ 1,750-3,000 rpm. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive system.

The petrol Q5 will compete with the recently launched BMW X3 xDrive30i and Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 in the Indian market.
