Re: 2017 Audi Q5 spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched @ Rs 53.25 lakh

Audi really seems to have fallen off the radar, if the lack of interest in this model is anything to go by. Even more so considering that everybody seems to be preferring SUVs to sedans these days.

I spotted the new gen Q5 in Bangalore for the first time yesterday. The car looks unbelievably similar to the outgoing car. Only a very keen enthusiast will be able make out that this is the new Q5. I think it's the same story with the new A4. Audi's designs are smart and timeless, but I think they have fallen behind the game by sticking to the same old design language. Audi needs to step out of it's comfort zone to stay current in market.

Audi have always been popular for:
1. Unexceptional cars, though things are changing.
2. Utter reliability.
3. Cars which are almost indestructible.

Also, at one time they used to source all the engines from Ford. What is the scene today?

I beg to defer -

Point 1 - True beyond the styling
Point 2 - It is hit and miss - I know folks who have had no problems with Q5's and some folks who have had injector problems, AC compressor problems. Reliable - possible! Utterly Reliable - The Japanse take that statement
Point 3 - quite possible but these are matched by high service bills and parts.

All engines supplied from Ford? Not a chance - all engines are sourced from the VAG group. Please prove me wrong!

I'm guessing all these comments were supposed to be aimed at Volvo

Audi is and has never been known for reliability or longevity. At best, capability thanks to Quattro

Who are the biggest clients. Doctors (esp GPs) in the UK. Harley street prefers Rolls (often old with a private number plate).

So they have changed their engine supplier down the line. With VAG I will become suspicious of Diesels, in case the data is doctored.

Are doctors the best judges of reliable cars? Hardly!

The best judges are Taxi Drivers! - If you look at the Uber and minicabs, most of them are Japanese cars, used Mercedes, Fords and Skoda's! If Audi's were that reliable, they would have been in the list.

Audi is owned by VW so why would they buy from Ford!
