If you are able to get a good name then its fine, else just do not force something.
It appears like they didn't want even an alphabet (except O) from xylo. Also they wanted to forget the likes of quanto, nuvosport etc and came up with a name from another dimension.

Anyways, we shall know the inspiration behind that name by today

Shark inspired design, unique Surround AC system for uniform cabin cooling. Marazzo unlike the Basque language Marrazo (meaning Shark). Largest footprint for a Mahindra vehicle. No engine details revealed, no complete photos shared for now. Launch before Diwali. The tail lamp takes design inspiration for a Shark Tail. The chrome inserts in the front grill are inspired by Shark Teeth. The shoulder line is inspired from the shoulder line of a shark. The surround AC inside takes design inspiration from the shark's spine.

Another launch after Diwali and then next year (on questions of S201 and Rexton successor)

Out of the 12 shortlisted names, one matches my surname (Deano name shortlisted, and I am Deane)

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

this is one time Mahindra may actually pull it off w.r.t. design, if the teasers are anything to go by.

Of couse, the last white shark inspired car was the Corvette Mako SHark so lets not use that as a benchmark

But if Mahindra uses the M-hawk 2.2 with the AT from the XUV in this, this MPV will have a very good chance of success in the market. What really got me interested is the patented ride and agility claim- not something one has ever seen from an Indian manufacturer.

As a matter of fact, one of my previous manager's last name was Tauro and that too has made it to the list!

I mean, seriously? Marazzo? Wasn't there anything better Mahindra could come up with??

Car looks good in preview pics though.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

I don't understand how an allusion to the aesthetics of a shark translates to my cognition of space or versatility of this MPV. Sharks, in my mind, render images of aggression, agility and speed none of which are qualities that one would associate with an MPV. That said, for the first time, the design is non-offensive.

The OCD in me can't get past the uneven spacing of '140' between 120 and 160 on the speedo. Also, whats with the fuchsia coloured rings in the instrument cluster? I know this colour would like nice and dandy in a fashion boutique but in a car? I don't get it.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Sharks are typically slim, narrow and fast. Not sure how it maps to the largest vehicle Mahindra has created. Maybe a whale would be more appropriate for a large MPV like this one!

That said, it looks beautifully made - inside out. Hope they figured out a way to maintain top notch quality and Mahindra has a winner.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Hope this is a real competitor to the Innova Crysta and doesn't end up like the Hexa-Aria where Tata had to rework the entire car.

I think there is a great potential in the UV space and Mahindra can surely gain a lot of sales if they launch a well priced MPV.

So did Mahindra even talk of safety in their entire presentation?

With incidents of failing airbags on their XUV, I wish they had also revealed that the structural strength and safety of the shark is better than the cheetah?

Another view of the Marazzo. Scared of safety aspect in the M&M stable.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

A few points:
The speedo numbers are horizontally aligned, check with foot ruler and they have a woman on the design team- explains the dandy colour scheme. Same woman was the one who bull dozed the 'men' in the XUVs all fancy instrument cluster lighting. She needs to join Tesla or work on the Tata Vision.
I have only one thing to say about the current 6-airbag non deployment- its a supplemental restraint system- that works under a given set of parameters. If you notice the speed at which the car met with the accident, it is reasonably posible that the battery disconnected, or the main fuse blew and thats why the SRS did not deploy. But that speed- how is that excused?
Anyway, lets also keep in mind that the Scorpio was not sold in the US as it failed crash tests, so they incurred a big loss on the dealerships that they signed up for and could not fill with the Scorpio. They dont have a stellar record for designing robust and safe cars.
This makes that incident a toss up- and tragic, but that speed?

From the picture, I assess that the Ground Clearance is too low for a long wheelbase. In cities like bangalore with a lot of unscientifically built speed humps, considerably high ground clearance is preferred.
