re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Great looking product from Mahindra, after many years! Last great looking and featured product (IMO) was the original XUV 500.
I sincerely hope that whatever testing they do before releasing it to the masses, includes very thorough safety testing in addition to the extensive road and terrain tests. How about a GLOBAL NCAP assessment prior to launch?

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Looks very plain Jane. Unlike the XUV or the TUV, this is not a car that will stand out on the road. Maybe it will appear larger when viewed in person.

I think Mahindra is doing quite well to have a well rounded portfolio - a competitive product in every price range & targeting a wide demographic. The TUV plus primarily seems to be targeted at the cab market. TUV is the sub 4 metre car, the Marazzo is the family car, XUV is the butch SUV & the XUV 700 is the flagship product. I think they will discontinue the Quanto & Xylo. Makes very little sense not to. The Scorpio & XUV might cannibalize each other's sales to an extent. But given how each has a well carved identity, it should be a non factor.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Indeed a design with clean metal sheets.

Rising window line might be a concern for the third row however let us wait for the official review.

One more things: It reminded me of Renault Lodgy from D pillar and tail lights while looking for first time.

Thanks for the pics, and the car looks great. Quite unlike Mahindra's new additions post XUV5OO.

Though not a great fan of the name, I really feel that the car has got it all what an MPV buyer would look for.

Looking forward to more pictures

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

The blue shade and the design matches very well. The maroon shade is not looking that great. From side profile view a Xylo/Lodgy look is visible. (Is it only my perception or others are also feeling same) . It could be because of the bland design as well.

From one of the rear view photos, it's evident that the boot space will be at premium with all three rows up.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Finally a cleaner design compared to the oddities like TUV3OO and KUV1OO.

However am I the only one who feels that the front 3/4 view, especially around the A-pillar and the side profile it has an uncanny resemblance to the Innova Crysta?

There are no tax benefits on the 1.5L diesel if the vehicle is more than 4m long. But there is the lower insurance bracket the engine will enjoy (in case of both petrol & diesel with no "size" factor) with the cut off being <1.6L or >1.6L.

This may also mean, the cars within 4m size might start using the same engine for tax benefits, in different state of tunes.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Finally a Mahindra with more straight lines than weird curvy lines ! The Marazzo is the first Mahindra where Pininfarina was actively involved in the design and boy is this visible. Great looking MPV.

The engine bay looks quite small or atleast the opening does from the pictures and it looks like the service guys will have a tough time working on the engine when major repairs are involved.

We always used to associate opposite of bland for older Mahindra vehicles when it came to the exterior of the car, the interiors while may not have been elegant, did not divide opinions as much as the exteriors. So while I am happy with the toning down of the exterior design elements, I do not like the interiors at all.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Neutral risk free design. Looks good in my opinion.

I also tend to think that M&M product portfolio is crowded with seven seaters (THAR, BOLERO, SCORPIO, QUANTO, TUV-300, TUV-300 Plus, Xylo, Marazzo, XUV-500)

From a buyers perspective, can make out the differentiation between THAR, BOLERO, SCORPIO and XUV-500. The rest in my opinion are too many too confusing, may be they need to clean up Quanto, TUV-300 Plus and Xylo and have just Marazzo instead.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

All in speculation and here is one on pricing,

Quote:
The Marazzo MPV is likely to be positioned between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova at ₹10-₹15 lakh, whereas the sub-4 meter SUV — codenamed S201 — will finally plug a critical gap in Mahindra’s portfolio of soft-roader SUV six months from now.
Quote:
The company is currently sitting on its lowest ever market share at 23.5% at the end of July, which is also a drop of over 180 basis points. Maruti Suzuki, which was running neck-and-neck with Mahindra in sales, has stretched its lead and is sitting on a record high market share of 29.9% in the UV space. Meanwhile, M&M is hoping to climb back to double-digit territory with its new offerings.
