Mahindra's Innova Crysta still on the 'Ulundurpet expressway'.

Looks like extensive testing is being carried out on the Chennai - Trichy highway. May be Mahindra is targeting the Chennai to Rameshwaram tour operators.

Below captured somewhere between Tindivanam and Vilupuram.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Anyone currently looking for an MUV/MPV in the 16-22L segment has very limited options. The Crysta is very expensive, the Hexa is a very old platform and nowadays the Xylo is too taxi.

This MPV can fill a void provided it is launched sometime early 2018. Else, the Crysta brand will have gone too far ahead for any real impact.

As if the Innova Crysta is on a newer platform. The Crysta is based on a reworked platform of the old Innova just like the Hexa is of the Aria.

I pray that Mahindra should not spoil this Innova competitor with it's funky design bits.

Very well said Ragav. Many people here just need a reason to nitpick. If Hexa was based on a new platform I think people would have doubted as to whether or not the platform is good enough!

That will a lot to expect from Mahindra . Moreover Hexa and Crysta has raised the bar few notches in terms of design.

Not sure what you're hinting at. If you care to know about the Hexa, please have a look at the recent offroading video that was published by a media house on youtube. The Hexa was the only car in which the test drivers could keep the water from falling over and scale all the obstacles. The Jeep, Tiguan, Fortuner failed.

Coming back to the MUV, it could be a great alternative to the Ertiga. The Xylo was a good product and a lot of people bought it for personal use when launched. However, from what I understood from a Taxi owner, it has a lot of quality issues that were not resolved by Mahindra. If they manage to make this a reliable workhorse that looks modern, the Ertiga would be in for a serious challenge.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Actually if Mahindra get the right balance of utility, VFM for this car - it has a potential to be a big hit. Realistically speaking, The Crysta & the HEXA are so costly now that there is actually a void & big opportunity for a no-nonsense, economical people mover MPV.

It doesn't have to be too premium. Just get the basics right, give "normal" safety & comfort features similar to an Ertiga or top of the line Xylo & viola, this car has no real competition at all & will sell in such volumes that suddenly Toyota & Tata will think they missed a trick by not having any basic MPV in the line-up.

At the same time - try to play the "PREMIUM" card with it - and it will have a hard time up against the HEXA and Crysta. Very hard. Mahindra still has a long way to go to match the quality standards of these 2 cars.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

The U321 MPV's elusive interiors have been snapped by an ACI reader.

Quote:
As seen from the spy pic, the Mahindra U321 gets an all-black dashboard replete with subtle bits of piano black trim. The steering wheel design looks new, with controls for audio and a faux brushed aluminum trim. The trapezoidal AC vents sit right at the top and are surrounded by a chrome trim. The roller switches for the AC, placed next to the vents get chrome finish too. Below the AC vents is a largish touchscreen infotainment system that could be the unit from the XUV500, which comes loaded with multiple apps. The large rotary knobs are for AC and climate control. Expect Mahindra to offer multiple AC vents for all three rows of seats. The MPV is likely to be offered as a seven and eight-seater.

Also, the MPV seems to be in the final stages of testing as the exterior features the production-spec grille, front and rear bumpers alloy wheels, four wheel disc brakes, front fog lamps with LED daytime running lamps and projector head and large tail-lamps with LED inserts. Expect higher trims of the U321 MPV to come with five spoke 16-inch alloy wheels shod with chunky Apollo Apterra tyres.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

This MPV looks very similar to the Chevy Enjoy. Widen the Enjoy, make all the edges and body panels slightly curvy, a few tweaks to the grille, ORVMs and we can arrive at this design.

Anything else?
This is the limit. Just looking at the camouflaged vehicle, one can immediately start comparing design languages! You need to be on advisory panel for automobile companies man.
Regarding comments on Hexa being on old platform, I can only say 'Typical'! May I let you know that Innova is older than Aria & Crysta is based on Innova's platform only barring some exterior changes in tin & interior changes in plastic
