re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Saw a test mule on GST road chennai. Dummies were placed on the third row and from the looks of it, there might be very less of luggage space behind the third row.

Luggage space may be same or a bit more than that of the XUV, hope they prove me wrong.

The dash seems to be well laid out and even the touch screen was of a decent size. There was ample leg room for the second row passengers.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

The upcoming U321 MPV's interiors have been snapped by a Rush Lane reader.

Quote:
Though it remains to be seen whether it is bigger than the Innova Crysta or not, first impression it gave those who have seen is that the new Mahindra MPV has a larger road presence than the Innova Crysta.
It was spied with vertical slat front grille and a slanting bonnet while the front bumper receives two horizontal air slits positioned just below the grille. Extended C pillars indicate space for third row occupants while rear-end design elements are not known due to heavy camouflage. It also gets projector headlamps and LED DRLs.

Mahindra seems to have created a fairly acceptable design for their new MUV unlike the disastrous KUV and TUV plus.

Based on these pics, it looks like the front resembles the ingenio pick up truck a fair bit and the rest of it is a straight forward MUV design, largely uncluttered and clean. I just hope they do not mess it up with some awkward grille or some weird kinks at the rear.

Amen to that! Looks a lot like the the previous gen innova and that is not a bad thing at all. Will be interesting to see if they launch with the 1.99L 6 speed gearbox or the 2.2 mhawk. If they don’t have too many issues in the first few months, this would easily become the taxi market favourite.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Mahindra is betting big on this MPV and they are gearing up to launch it soon.

Got few information on the car from one of my insider - Not sure if its already known here or not, but this will be 1500 car with 120 BHP turbo charged engine. Interiors will be of good quality. It will be priced aggressively between Ertiga and Innova.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

A production-ready test mule of the U321 MPV has been spotted on a testing run by an IAB reader.

Quote:
Some of the notable exterior design features include a ‘toothed’ grille, headlights with projector units and black bezels, and LED DRLs placed next to the fog lamps. At the back, the U321 will get vertically positioned tail lights, bumper mounted reflector units, and a roof-mounted LED stop lamp. Previous sightings of test mules have revealed 5-split spoke alloy wheels.
Quite obviously, the Mahindra U321 will have a seating capacity of 7-8. It will get a front facing third-row seat and the second row is likely to feature optional captain seats. A spy picture from earlier this month reveals the centre console, aircon controls, and a touchscreen AVN. The roof lining and seat upholstery are draped in beige that should help give the cabin an airy feel. The instrument console features lavender illumination and a multi-information display in landscape orientation.
Media reports indicate that the MPV will debut a new 1.6 L mFalcon diesel engine. A petrol variant is expected to be available as well.

The MPV will also be the first Mahindra model to use a new 1.6-litre diesel engine developed with SsangYong. This mFalcon engine will find its way to future Mahindras as well; and on the MPV, it will make a healthy 130hp.

Question: Is this a ladder frame or monocoque UV? Never did find a clear mention of the same anywhere.

Very neutral styling given that its a Mahindra vehicle. 1.6L engine with 130 BHP is fine but its the torque delivery that is going to make or break this vehicle. If its anything like the TUV with oddles of low end torque and good highway dynamics with the engine pottering at 2K RPM (assuming 6 speed transmission), this MPV should do fine even with 7 adults on board.

Having said that, with a 1.6L engine, I doubt that this will come anywhere close to an innova in terms of outright performance. It might be fair to compare this to the Ertiga.

IMHO, the mFalcon badging doesn’t inspire much confidence as I think it means that there is still a lot of room for improvement and M&M will continue to do that by getting customers to pay for the product and test it in the real world. M&M history clear shows that - Quanto 1.5L mEagle became the 1.5L mHawk in TUV. Similar case with Xylo as well.
