Looks like some sort of equipment to gather emission data. The pipe seems to be routed into the box from the exhaust. Could it be the 1.99L engine being tested, possibly in a different state of tune?

That rendering somehow seems to be a cross of an Enjoy, Ertiga and just a little bit of the Aria.

I do hope it doesn't look like that. A better styled Xylo would do quite well.

Even to me it looks like they have a spacious 3rd row OR a generous boot OR good 3rd row and decent boot.

The only down side would be the generous 'bounce' in the 3rd row - considering the overhang.

+1 to both of you I thought if I was the only one seeing a really big vehicle. From the pic it looks really huge to me and also to be longer than Innova (though not sure). A real MPV and a real competitor to the Innova.
Placed above the Ertiga and slightly lesser than even Mobilio this has the potential to kill Mobilio and dent the Innova.

Mahindra make this one look good with the bells and whistles along with the target placing you have a real winner

It looks to be wider and taller than Mobilio/BR-V. Being placed on Brio's platform, the duo looks too narrow and I hate them for that. Also the design is just too much. This Mahindra MPV looks much better and more mature. I would be glad to see it kill the competetion. It's an Indian product and going by how VFM, rugged and capable Scorpio/XUV have been, I am quite positive about this one. My office uses Innovas (old ones) as cabs. Innovas were basic in everything and third row is not for adults. I keep comparing comfort, seat cushioning etc when I am in that vehicle to XUV that I drove on a long trip and man Innova was overpriced.
Now that it has been improved, its much costlier and again, overpriced.
I wish Mahindra wins this game!

Looks huge.
Looks like Mahindra wants to play the 'spacious cabin' trump card.

So definitely looks like an Innova challenger. They have realised it with the Innova upping its game and still winning. There does seem a window in that market especially the fleet.

Is this a 9-seater? I can't see a gap between the front captain seats. This looks more like the KUV 6 seater configuration where a person (kid) can be accommodated in the front middle.

No that is just the reflection of the clouds. Look carefully & you will be able to see the separate front passenger seat.

With the Hexa also on the verge of being launched, would be interesting to see how Tata and Mahindra price both of these MUVs. One thing is for sure, you can trust both the companies to market them as SUVs. Remember that the cross over positioning never really worked for the Aria and neither did the MUV positioning for the Xylo. Somehow getting a feeling that Mahindra will undercut the Hexa by a good margin and walk away with the customers who are looking for a less expensive People mover when compared to the new Innova.

re: New Mahindra MPV caught testing in Chennai. EDIT: Named Marazzo

Going through all the posts in this thread I find that there is not too much speculation/information available yet on the drive train - FWD, RWD or AWD.
We can probably write off AWD straight off since an MPV is not really a vehicle for such extravagance. So that leaves FWD or RWD. I felt that if the XUV had just one chink in its armour it was having FWD as standard and AWD only as an option.

One of THE USPs of the Innova & its stupendous sales record was its RWD lay-out. I hope M&M have kept this in mind & not gone in for FWD, thinking that there recent expertise with the XUV will allow them to get away with it in the new MPV too!

The Mobilio, Lodgy, Evalia et al, have all bitten dust and are still licking their wounds - and they all had FWD! For ruggedness & durability one cannot come close to a RWD lay-out. And the MPV market (at least the commercial establishments & the fleet sales) puts a high premium on durability.

This looks very much similar to the Ssangyong Rodius that I had seen at the Mahindra service center in 2014.
