Came across this nice summary of the Automobile Sales in Q1 of Financial Year 2016-17 by
ETAuto. Covers all segments like Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles and Two Wheelers.
Some Key Points from the article. - New Policies and taxation's have not really impacted the sector in Q1 FY17.
- The overall domestic auto sales grew by 13.42 percent to 5,546,343 units in the first quarter FY16-17, compared to 4,890,099 units sold in the same quarter the previous year.
- All segments showed double digit growth. Lowest was the passenger vehicles segment which although did not register double digit growth, still stayed in positive territory.
- Passenger Vehicles: SIAM expects 6-9% growth in FY17. Compact SUV's/Utility segment will drive growth.
- Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles showed a strong growth of ~15%.
- LCV's showed a growth of ~11%.
- Two Wheeler Segment showed a 14% growth which is expected to continue through FY17.
- While Passenger Vehicle exports showed a strong Growth, dip in exports in the 2 and 3 wheeler segments resulted in overall decline in exports
