Interestingly, Maruti lost ~6% market share while Hyundai, Tata, Kia gained ~6% each, that's pretty phenomenal even though these are not lasting changes. Every other player lost their respective market shares, Honda & Nissan are exceptions.

I know we all want the product to do well and for that Tata has to price it aggressively but it’s almost impossible that Tata will price it under 5 lakhs. The Tiago itself now starts at 4.99 lakhs in Delhi.

Even if it is somehow possible for Tata to price this car which is based on a newer generation platform under 5 lakhs, they won’t do it because it will certainly kill the Tiago. I’m pretty sure the HBX will kill the already slow selling Tigor but they can’t price it close to the Tiago considering that Indians love the SUV look.

I’d want them to price it close to the Magnite and Kiger whilst giving us a better built product. Also, wish that they somehow plonk that 1.5 diesel into this new car, if possible.

30000+ units in a month. They are probably targetting the 2nd spot from Hyundai now. HBX, petrol Harrier/Safari and some extra variants on other models can easily help them reach 40000 units per month.

Nexon has crossed the 10k mark for the 1st time! Out of the 10 top selling cars for this month, the Nexon is at the 9th position. A huge achievement for Tata Motors!!

Maruti just managing to cross 1 lakh ( and Hyundai clocking less than 50K units) ! Very surprising. Has this got anything to do with the chip shortage issue or anything to do with the lack of diesel engines and the perceived lack of safety of the Maruti products? Is this just an aberration or the harbinger of the days to come?

Interesting times ahead.

Maybe the thread title has to be changed now. Tata has been consistently in the third position for over a year. The gap is quite wide between the third and the fourth now and it is fair to say Tata has succeeded. With Punch, the gap is only going to widen.

Tata should look into sourcing petrol engines from Ford's Sanand operations.

Tata motors is on the ascendancy, no doubt. While adding new dealerships/service centres is a great move, what Tata needs to improve vastly is the service quality/experience. Couple this with a decent "rear-lift" on the Nexon, I will be surprised if Brezza is not dislodged from its top perch. Throw in the exciting HBX..err Punch to the mix, Hyundai will in all probability start feeling jittery. Tata has all the potential in the world to make the No.2 position(behind Maruti) it's own. But then, having potential is one thing and realising it is another thing altogether. Interesting times ahead!
