Coming on the back of some strong sales numbers of the Nexon, and a slight rise in Hexa & Tiago numbers.

For the Tata Nexon, to go past the more fancied Honda WR-V is indeed a commendable feat.

One of the main reasons why Tata Motors has breached the 20,000-mark in units dispatched for the month of January 2018.

Any rise in the Tigor numbers?

I would have expected after AMT launch Tigor do much better.

Nearly 2.5 times jump from December 2017. In fact, it was the third most-dispatched Tata car for the month (after the Tiago & the Nexon).

Their Dual mass flywheel in the aria was a flop, with most of the cars being retrofitted a regular flywheel. I hope they can pull this off right

They have already developed it and are testing it out on a single Nexon diesel prototype at their plant.

Chances are slim for it to be launched in the Nexon, though. It will definitely be shortlisted for more premium offerings, such as the H-twins (Q50x) and the 45X twins (x451 hatch/sedan).

Is this really Tata? Wow, I mean they have upped the automotive game in a big way. Doing things which other manufacturers are not bothered to even think.

If they launch the upcoming cars with a DCT, they have already a buyer waiting in line. Proud that an Indian manufacturer will be giving sleepless nights to the other manufacturers in near future.

Re: Tata Motors aims for a top 3 spot in PV sales!

Tata Motors to focus on creating new categories as per needs of the ever-evolving customer by using it's two new modular platform philosophy.

It also drops a subtle hint on premium pricing for the H5X/H7X SUVs.

Tata Motors CTO & Head (Power Systems Engg) Engineering Research Centre, Rajendra M Petkar:

Quote:
"The common thread between all the three platforms (Omega-Arch & Alpha for PVs, INTRA for CVs) is flexibility and modularity. It is an architecture that is scalable, agile and allows Tata Motors to create a pipeline of products and provide multiple options to consumers. One can create a hatch, mid-sized sedan, full-sized sedan, an SUV or even an MPV with the new platform. On the CV side INTRA can support different engines, different payloads and provide different options.
On PVs it is about exterior styling, interiors and technology in terms of connectivity. On CVs it is driven by total cost of ownership, which is how much money an owner can make from a given application of that product. Another focus area when it comes to CVs is around the driver- anything that one can do for the comfort, convenience and safety of the driver. While there may be a common theme for our platforms, it is designed to meet the objective of that particular segment.
There are many categories where we are missing. The objective of having this modular platform is to have products that can serve those sub-segments. With Nexon, we have seen a fantastic response and prompting us to continue with the design philosophy, which in turn is being reflected in our sales. You can start with a compact SUV, but tomorrow you would want to replace it with a full-size SUV. There has to be a greater focus for companies to realize the shift that is happening towards SUVs.
We will also have the option of five or seven seats (for the H5) and greater degree of automation in Powertrain. If we want to have an SUV, for example, over Rs 20 lakh range, of course, there would be a market for it, but the question would be do we want to serve every pocket of demand? However, we now have the flexibility in terms of platform to attempt a product in that range.
If you see the history of Tata Motors, you will see that there is a great degree of similarity between the concepts we showcase and the final production car. It is not that what we have shown here is an artistic impression which will be very different from what the final car looks like. There may be some embellishments missing, but we will always be close to what we showcase in a concept and what we finally offer."

Re: Tata Motors aims for a top 3 spot in PV sales!

Apart from new platforms, engines, gearboxes, and overall new products; Tata seems to be thinking holistically. It has finally realised marketing, a missing cog in its wheel, is important. With this ad popping up as I was watching something else on YouTube.

The ad itself is not splendid like its old Safari ads or when compared to the recent M&M Born Young Born Free ads. But at least, they are thinking in the right direction.

Re: Tata Motors aims for a top 3 spot in PV sales!

As Mahindra declares its March sales data (26,555), Tata Motors is likely to retain its 4th position as seen in Feb-18.
