I think the number plate is either fake or Photoshopped. Reason is that Karnataka RTOs will not have a private car number starting with the letter A. Private cars typically start with M,N and P and then go to MA, MB etc..

Even fancy numbers I suppose cannot override at the letter level.

In the first place, does it really look like a number?! For me it just looks like "KABALI"

Its just someones creative imagination to relate it to this number, i feel.

One more thing is that the RTO vehicle search service gives a message that this number (KA 08 AL 0001) doesn't exist
So, I guess that he has removed the original number plate (it need not be KA 08 AL 0001) and just put a KABALI plate.

From what I know, it's a serious offence and the accused might stand guilty of violating Sections 419 & 420 of the Indian Penal Code, and Section 192 (A) of the Motor Vehicles Act, which could amount to a hefty fine and/or imprisonment for (maximum) 7 years.

Thing is, will the police act?

He is liable to be punished.

But with this photo that is circulating the online world, Even if the police are willing to act, who will they catch? there is nowhere that he has displayed the actual number plate
