re: Isuzu planning to launch MU-X. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 23.99 lakhs

It looks as though the higher end (~20L +) of the Indian SUV gravy boat has plateaued. And all the king's horses & men are not going to inflate that

envelope, at least in the immediate future - all the fence sitter's (including yours truly) have their ears close to the ground & are aware of the

direction the wind blows: increasing tightening of the screws on large diesels (including banning of 10+ yr olds), the welcome appearance of the new

animal called hybrid (mild & strong!) in the more accessible segments, with its own reduced-excise temptation. Thus, any new entrant in the SUV

park would do well to remember that in India, price & VFM is the only magic mantra for reasonable volumes. If they are not to come a cropper like

the Rexton or the MUV or even the Aria.

re: Isuzu planning to launch MU-X. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 23.99 lakhs

At least an entry level version in a slightly upward price territory of dmax vcross will do wonders. Brand Isuzu will hopefully be established positively through the Vcross. However for those who are not willing to go for it because of the long dimension and pick up category may jump at the suv version. It may also fill up the void of a reliable suv in that price band.

A single prototype of the Isuzu MU-X SUV has been imported into our country recently, possibly for testing purposes.

Touted to be the replacement to the MU-7 SUV, Isuzu is gearing up to launch the MU-X by end-2016.

Thanks for the info. Is that 27.5L mentioned in the price?

If this is the price range they are targeting, then it is going to sink without a trace like it's cousin, Trailblazer. At least Trailblazer has that stonker of the diesel engine with that humongous 500 Nm torque!!!

Not sure if we should go by that import price. It's a complicated math and hopefully wouldn't be the final one.

This looks better than the Trailblazer and if they both have the same underpinnings, this should be a solid SUV. Forgetting price for a second, I wonder though if they have benchmarked themselves against any of their competitors offerings in features, specs etc.

Also, I don't think the SUV market is saturated at all. Just wait for the new Fortuner to arrive and watch the frenzy.

If ISUZU can lauch a no frills, reliable, 7 seater SUV with good after sales service in the same price bracket as XUV and Safari, this will sell like hot cakes. Otherwise they will have a tough time gaining market share. The previous one MU-7 hardly gained traction.

Well, being an owner of the MU7 automatic I can vouch by the sturdiness of this brand. Mechanically perfect with least electronics that will bother.

Isuzu MU-X SUV spied in India.

The MU-X SUV will replace the ageing MU-7 in India; to be locally assembled at Isuzu's plant in Andhra Pradesh.

Based on the Isuzu I-GRIP platform, the butch-looking MU-X comes with a seven-seat layout and shift-on-the fly four-wheel-drive tech. It comes with two powertrain options in international markets – a 1.99-litre 150hp (Codename: RZ4E-TC) and a 4JJ1-TCX 3.0-litre xxhp diesel engine
To rival Ford Endeavour, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the new Toyota Fortuner.

Re: Ford India imports Kuga SUV

The Isuzu MU-X has been spotted on a testing run on the outskirts of Chennai.

Fly-Wheel has mistakenly identified this particular test mule as the Ford Kuga, which it is not. It is indeed the MU-X, judging by the rear and the stickered parts.

I think flywheel got this wrong.

That's the Isuzu MU-X and not the Kuga. The Kuga is a smaller vehicle and you can see this pic has the MU-X wraparound rear glass which the Kuga doesn't have. The bumpers and reflectors are also same as MU-X.

re: Isuzu planning to launch MU-X. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 23.99 lakhs

GaadiWaadi sources report that Isuzu will be launching the MU-X SUV in April 2017, as a replacement for the MU-7 SUV.

Quote:
To be initially offered via CBU route, it is said to eventually meet assembly lines at Isuzu’s newly established Sri City plant in Andhra Pradesh.

Isuzu seems to be working on a lower-level variant of the V-Cross as well which could arrive sometime late next year.

re: Isuzu planning to launch MU-X. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 23.99 lakhs

Any chances that the MU-X will be offered with 4wd + Automatic combination?!

I guess the international version does come with this combination. I really wish Isuzu has the foresight to launch this version. This will ensure that it takes a lot of customers from the Toyota Fortuner 4wd automatic.
