Yes completely agree there. The 1.9 is a more modern engine. It would also give Isuzu the benefit of a lower excise bracket due to less than 2 Litre engine (which I think is an 8% difference in excise of 16% vs 24%). Isuzu could well have passed this benefit to the user and would be around 1.3 lacs in excise alone.
My feeling is that they should gun for the Hexa, Scorpio and Safari customers and not against the Endeavor and Fortuner.
Recently I went to the Toyota showroom to enquire about the Fortuner and it still has a 6 month waiting period!!
The Toyota has a huge loyal base and I doubt that Isuzu would be able to influence that segment at all.

Based on the below Autocar article, it looks like Isuzu will try and come in very price competitive, perhaps a Sub 20 lac ex-showroom price for the 2WD variant!

The surge in sales of Dmax Vcross beyond Isuzu's expectation has probably given them a pseudo feeling of achievement in the short run, leading to lack of response from the customer care regarding warranty related replacements of few of the components which look to be affected by localization of parts. If their responsiveness and quality of after sales is no better than the existing players, there is very slim chance of acquiring potential customer base of other manufacturers.

Not any chance at all, at least with Isuzu's present level of (non)-responsiveness in India in recent times towards few issues raised by a no of owners.

Hope the 'competitive' price won't come at the cost of sub-standard localized parts with minimal QA/QC related checks like few other players!

Going through the D Max thread, feedback regarding the poor parts quality and equally response from Isuzu could not have come at a worse time for Isuzu. But then if Isuzu thinks it can replicate the success it has had in other markets with this kind of poor customer satisfaction in India, they are mistaken. And the fact that they are hardly present and known here does not help matters. Markets are unforgiving and trust once lost would be hard to regain. There is enoughvand more competetion and choices available. Isuzu can take their limited success to their heads to their own peril.

re: Isuzu planning to launch MU-X. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 23.99 lakhs

I do like the understated interiors. It comes across as a practical car. But besides some of the people with know-how, most customers are unaware of the Isuzu brand. It will be a massive task to take on the Innova and I doubt that is even their intention. They probably just want to get a foot in the door that is the Indian market.

From the brochure no manual transmission. Sigh. The central console looks identical to the chevy trailbalizer.

Six airbags and satellite navigtion are two important features that seem to be missing. Any clues if Isuzu provides these in overseas markets?

If Isuzu manages to sell decent numbers for a new cover, then GM executives better pack their bags and give the official notice.

Very much looking forward to see Isuzu brand grow. Also even more exciting to see what kind of products they will be bringing down as the next gen of MuX is jointly developed with Mazda.

This, if priced well can be a practical and no-nonsense alternatives for the Endeavour and Fortuner. My only grouse with the feature list is that they are offering only 2 Airbags, which doesn't do justice to the segment.

Given all the other safety features like ABS, EBD, brake assist, ESC, TCS, HSA; why would you not provide 6 airbags!

With 6 airbags and navigation included, this could have been a complete product that can give the established brands a difficult time for sure. It still might, but I wouldn't put my money on a 4x4 SUV without 6 airbags.

re: Isuzu planning to launch MU-X. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 23.99 lakhs

Seems like a decent package. I only wish they had not used the older 5-Speed Auto and kept the latest 6-Speed Auto. Side/Curtain airbags and rear parking sensors should be available as an options. Other than this, at the right pricing, they should see some decent numbers.
