I hope they don't get the car here with the centrally mounted instrument cluster. Santro is a great brand in India and it's going to be extremely tough for any car to take on the Santro here. Maybe a honda or toyota can beat the Santro but they will never bring a car in that price range. Can the spark's engine bay accomodate the 1.3 multi-jet? Logically, GM should have plans to bring in the diesel Spark to take on the Santro crdi, wagon r and new zen ddis(?)

Thats precisely because competition in that segment is very limited, actually just a couple of options. Santro didn't do any well when it was launched. Santro only picked up sales when Matizs' times went bad. Judgement just cannot be made by a poll ! Let's wait for the car to arrive. Correct pricing by GM can do wonders for Spark. But only time will tell.

Brand loyalty aside, I see good scope for the Spark. Now if GM manages to get in the diesel variant simultaneously, it'll be a fight worth watching.

I think the launch of the Spark has become a little long in the tooth. Ideally they shold have played their ace, launched it end of last year or beginning of this, with a Diesel option as well. Given their product enough time to be accepted by the public, so that a year later when Hyundai launches the diesel Santro, not everybody would run to get one. If both are launched at the same time, I see people invariably flocking to buy the New Santro/Diesel.

These guys want to play it safe, and launch it when others do it.

I also saw what was known as the Daewoo Kalos, but don't know the contemporary name for it, on the Western Express Highway, albeit with Aveo badging. It looks very ungainly, and there is no sync between the front and rear end design. Couldn't make out more because the driver drove like he was possessed after he saw us armed with cam phones.

Yes the main instrument cluster seems to be in the centre. Somewhat similar to what you have in Toyota Yaris.

Thanks nitrous.

Actually the guy who tests these new (yet to be launched) vehicles lives just a couple of apartment blocks away from our block. It seems he works for GM coz I have seen SRV & Aveo (the sedan and the hatch back models) much before they were launched. Infact the Aveo hatch back model has not yet been launched and I saw it for the first time almost 18 months ago!

Re: Spy Shot- Chevrolet Spark...!

Seen the Advertisment for Chevrolet Spark in the newspaper today & Surprisingly read there -the new Spark features Digital Tachometer across all of its variants.
Firstly I thought that its a typo-error for the word-Digital Tripmeter !
Have anybody seen this feature in the new Spark ?
