Heard from a dealer that Fiat has plans to offer an Abarth badged Urban Cross.The current 140PS T-Jet powered Emotion variant is branded as a Fiat with a "Powered by Abarth" badge on the rear door. Apparently, in this new variant all Fiat badges are replaced by Abarth badges as in the Abarth Punto. The source has no information on whether there are any changes other than the badging. A batch of 20 to 25 such cars is said to be under production.

20 - 25. Guess they are not taking chances. But hopefully it's more than just cosmetic, the changes. Although how much they will be able to change driving dynamics with the high ground clearance, I'm not sure.

In any case, would look good in the FCA showrooms...

Iam driving UC Abarth since late march '17. For that ground clearance (205 mm), the handling is best in its segment.

BTW, great to know its coming with Abarth badges. IMO, it should have been offered in the beginning itself with all black Abarth themed interiors.

In my opinion, sticking a badge for the sake of it and calling it an Abarth is killing the brand and what it represents. The exclusivity is already lost for the Abarth Punto when the Urban Cross has an engine almost as powerful. They should have limited it to the 114 Ps tune of the Linea T Jet. Decisions like these must be consulted with the parent company. An Abarth represents a lot more than a badge being stuck to just about any Fiat.
