re: The Skoda Kodiaq. EDIT: Now launched at Rs 34.49 lakhs

Had I not known it was the Kodiaq in the spy shots I would have definitely thought it was LR Discovery facelift ! . Looks a great car, hopefully price won't go anywhere near the Q5.

It looks so beautiful. It resembles the Evoque a lot, especially the rear and in the side angle it looks like an X5. If space is as huge as the Superb, this vehicle is going to be a super duper hit in India.

re: The Skoda Kodiaq. EDIT: Now launched at Rs 34.49 lakhs

This seems like an apt upgrade for my yeti in a couple of years. The vehicle is well proportionate & has a great appeal with neat lines. It's very close to LR in looks, but has it's own distinctive look. I'm sure this will give the 40+ Lakh SUVs run for their money.

Just before its launch, Kodiaq reveals its interiors -Features 'Glass-Design' Touch Display & Upright Air Vents
Quote:
The instrument panel features two symmetrical zones, the air vents are positioned vertically instead of horizontally like on the Superb or the Octavia, and the touch display comes with a sophisticated glass design.

According to Skoda, all switches and functions are easy to access and the whole interior comes with a self-explanatory layout, which means that you won't have to waste too much time trying to figure out what certain buttons do.

Interiors look high quality and classy, the boot is huge and expect decent boot space even with all seats up.
Looks like dashboard has few lines similar to a cut glass. It is going to be a formidable competition to Fortuner, if priced in the range of 28-33 Lakhs Ex showroom.

I hope this is priced similarly to the Endeavour 3.2 Titanium AT 4x4, however after the Wrangler debacle I have lost all faith in sanity and shall wait patiently to be disappointed.

Everything looks top class, and capable of chewing up the competition. With Skoda's credibility (poor A. S. S) in India, pricing will be the key. From the European websites, price is speculated at £40k for Base variant (approximately 35 Lacs) and this put it right in the x1, q3 territory. For city like bangalore, on road will come close to 40+lacs. It will be interesting to see whether skoda can command such price. Assuming this price, fortune still looks great value for money.

Fortuner looks great value, but probably until the introduction of the new generation model; it can easily touch the 35-40 lakhs price range.

The Skoda will bring in more finesse and they can actually do a game-changer launch similar to the previous gen Superb.

Ooh la la! Wow. Just Wow.

If this was a VW, I'd have sold my Polo GT and lapped this up in about 3-4 years.

But as this is a Skoda, I'll prefer to just drool over this when it goes by. But I must say, classy styling and road presence.

If the heart wins over the head one day, this might just see a place in my garage!

re: The Skoda Kodiaq. EDIT: Now launched at Rs 34.49 lakhs

Await the pricing

1) Will it be in Ford Endy 4X4 AT Titanium Range.
2) If so which is better the Ford or the Kodiaq - Actually this might be an incorrect question given that one is comparing a Ladder on Frame chassis with Mono chassis - So is it like a Q7 without the Audi Badge.
3) Considering that the Superb L&K Diesel OTR (If it ever is available in India) is itself exactly the same price as top Endy Titanium, don't see how this can be priced the same as this would be much more substantial a vehicle.
4) Also seeing as in how the Superb Diesel kits are not available for India, this is likely to have the same issue.
5) Considering that this is a Mono Chassis may be a petrol 2.0 may still have enough grunt to move this around. But hope fully they will have the 6 speed Gearbox as it will need the higher torque capacity.

re: The Skoda Kodiaq. EDIT: Now launched at Rs 34.49 lakhs

The gap in the wheel arch is quite large for a crossover. As a result it doesn't quite have a planted stance and looks jacked up. Somehow I was expecting it to be better looking. The rear is too mild compared to the aggressive front end.
