Ford hikes prices of Endeavour Titanium variants by Rs.50,000

Prices of the new Ford Endeavour have been hiked in India from immediate effect. Prices of both the Titanium trims (2.2L and 3.2L) have been upped by Rs. 50,000. This is the second price increase for the Endeavour. Prices were earlier increased in March this year, due to a 4% hike in excise duty in the 2016-17 Union Budget.

After the recent increase of Rs. 50,000, the 2.2L 4x2 AT Titanium costs Rs. 27,50,800 while the 3.2L 4x4 AT Titanium is now priced at Rs. 29,76,800.

Due to the above price hike and the earlier increase in excise duty, the Endeavour prices have gone up in the range of Rs. 1.12 lakh to Rs. 1.62 lakh since its launch in January 2016. The 2.2L 4x2 MT Trend variant of the new Endeavour now costs Rs. 25,00,800, up from its launch price of Rs. 23,63,999. It has thus suffered a hike of Rs. 1,36,801. An identical price hike of Rs. 1,11,800 has been given to the Trend trims of the 2.2L 4x2 AT, 2.2L 4x4 MT and 3.2L 4x4 AT, which are now respectively priced at Rs. 25,50,800, Rs. 26,60,800, and Rs. 27,65,800. The 2.2L 4x2 AT Titanium is priced at Rs. 27,50,800, after a price rise of Rs. 1,36,800. The biggest hike of Rs. 1,61,800 has been given to the top end 3.2L 4x4 AT Titanium variant, which is now priced at Rs. 29,76,800.

Ford launched the Endeavour earlier this year with two engine options: a 2.2-litre diesel that develops 158 BHP and 385 Nm of torque, and a 3.2-litre diesel rated at 197 BHP and 470 Nm of torque. The smaller engine is available with two transmission options (a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic), while the 3.2-litre variants are offered with only the automatic transmission.

Ford trying to make hay while the sun shines milking the Endeavour for profits before the new Fortuner is launched.

A few people in the Figo price cut thread were salivating at the prospect of the Endeavour price being cut next. I am sure the Fortuner launch would make Ford cut prices again.

Ford cars' prices seem to be like a see saw going up and down based on market conditions and sales numbers. Its high time they bring in some pricing discipline.

It is quite unlikely that they will be forced to reduce prices after Fortuner launch. Going by the Toyota pricing policy, Endeavour may look like a steal even with these increased prices after that launch.

They shouldn't have jacked up the prices so soon. The Endeavour was selling well and was priced perfectly. It was priced at a premium vs the ageing Fortuner and that was acceptable for the package.

Remember the Figo and Aspire aren't selling well and the Ecosport is just about managing with the recent price cut.

They could have been happy with the better numbers till the Fortuner came and then seen how the Fortuner hits the sales. Increasing the prices will result in some looking at Innova now and some will wait for the new Fortuner before deciding. And we all know that Toyota + Fortuner = herd mentality and people rushing to showroom.

Ford has ensured two things:
1. It has lost prospective Innova customers who had $$$ to spare and didn't like the taxi image of the Innova.
2. Nobody will complain about an exorbitantly priced fortuner if Toyota price it at about INR 26.5 lakh ex-showroom for the base model.

Ford is trying to play a Robin Hood here, taking money from the rich and the the affluent, and giving 6 airbags equipped cars for the, erm, not so affluent

But even at these prices, I think the Endeavour does offer decent value for money, jacking it any further might not be safe, especially since the new Fortuner is just around the corner.

The current hike and cut in prices of ford cars is analogous to our share market.

When there is demand increase the price and compensate for the losses incurred by other cars. And why not? If Maruti, Hyundai and Toyota can do, so can Ford.

This is what they want to cash in. There is a threat of Endeavour heading towards oblivion once the new Fortuner is released.

No further products in pipeline signifies that they have to resurrect the sales of existing cars by all means.

Its an age old saying that a dog's tail will never go straight. It was the same with Ecosport and why should we expect them to do things differently this time around. Worst there would be no price protection for the buyers who have been waiting for their cars since eternity. And moreover don't be surprised if tomorrow Fortuner is priced competitively and they again slash the prices on the Endeavour.

The prices seem to be incorrect. 3 Months back the Vehicle price for Tiatnium 3.2 4*4 in Bangalore was 29,76,368 .That was what i payed. As per the above price list this means there was a difference of "1,61,800" between Bangalore price and Delhi price, as the new price you have quoted post 1.6 lakh increase is still 29,76,800 in Delhi.

Even if Toyota prices the Fortuner 2 lakh above the Endy variant to variant, the demand for the Endeavor would drop forcing Ford to cut prices. Frankly, Ford doesn't have pricing power in India.

The price for the Fortuner is competitive when compared to the Innova. Again, the Etios is competitively priced or priced marginally higher for the legendary Toyota reliability. This is the traditional Toyota pricing policy.

It is the Innova which is priced atrociously is an exception because it clearly has had next to no competition and the company can get away with charging a premium.

Silly move. If Ford is pleased with themselves for taking on the Fortuner for sales, they really need to wake up. The Fortuner is an overpriced, ancient and uncomfortable car now. Selling a few hundred units more isn't an achievement to me. Ford simply can't match Toyota for brand recall in India and if they think that they can take Toyota head on, they are wrong. The Endeavour is a great car and still a good buy at this price but ford needs to remember that these short term gains can bite them. They should've waited for the response of the public to the Fortuner at least.

re: Ford hikes prices of Endeavour Titanium variants by Rs.50,000

Wondering why Ford can not sort out their pricing blunders, they reduced Aspire prices by 90k and now jacked up the Endeavour prices by 1.63L which is a lot. Endeavour is heading the Ecosport way, it is selling well, has waiting on it so Ford wants to cash in as much as they can. Once the Fortuner launches and if Toyota keep the pricing close to the Endeavour, Ford will again drop prices by 1.6L to sustain sales.

This will bring 2 sets of unhappy customers, customers who have to pay 2L extra now without any sort of price protection and if they reduce the price once Fortuner launches, customers would be unhappy if they all of a sudden reduce the prices by 2L. Ford is years behind Toyota if they think they can keep selling the Endeavour since it is a good product, Toyota has a very strong customer base who value reliability and after sales over every thing, they would not have a look at the Ford.

Same old Ecosport story - Ecosport is Endeavour and Vitara Brezza would be the Fortuner in this movie.

This kind of opportunist pricing might go well with the CA's of Ford for a short term but isn't playing well with the end consumer, at least I appear to have lost faith.

A junior of mine got a Trend EcoSport nine days prior to the price-cut. Imagine his shock when Ford came up with revised [cut] prices, he always wanted a Titanium, he was almost in tears.

Along with the new Toyota Fortuner, the upcoming TrailBlazer too will pull some sales as will the quirky Mitsubishi Pajero.

Or they may be thinking, once the Fortuner launches who will buy the Endeavour so let's make money while we can!!!

Seriously though, they should have thought it through. At the old price the Endeavour was offering *just* enough value. I think this puts it beyond the tipping point.

re: Ford hikes prices of Endeavour Titanium variants by Rs.50,000

This is some kind of joke and will hurt Ford big time at least in India. People take long to forgive and forget. Quality compromise by Tata is a live example, buyers took years to come back to Tata.

- They jacked up price of Ecosport at the drop of a hat. Its not customer's fault if the manufacture is not able to deliver the product against demand; whereas customer's were forced to pay for increased prices.

- Limited inventory movement due to Brezza or I would say just the fear of Brezza made them do corrections

- The Figo twins ! This recent drop should be compensated for the recent lot of customers the way MSIL pitched in and gave freebees. I would have appreciated if they moved on with festive facelift - throw in Microsoft Sync in every model, make AT model fully loaded; price cut ! not nice.

- Endy, well its a competent product very similar to Figo twins and the Ecosport, yet such dynamic behavior is nothing less than cheating with the buyer. A perspective buyer will never be sure of "true value of machine" sold by Ford.

Cannot be appreciated. A non-transparent behavior I must say. I would appreciate Hyundai here which has given ample notice to the market on price movement.
