IMHO, "restricting" the sale to few cities maybe done primarily for 2 reasons:
1) The target customer (who understands performance and the tradeoffs associated with it, i.e. low FE or better fuel requirement etc) reside in top cities. You don't want a condition that people looking at the car bought it for the looks and then come back to complain about the FE which can escalate into a PR disaster (remember the Duster turned Dustbin)
2) As this is JTP, and not a stock Tata, the maintenance procedure, equipment will not be made available everywhere. If they launched it everywhere, 1 mechanic would've to be sent from each dealership to get trained, equipment be bought incurring cost.

If the response is phenomenal, a business decision to launch it everywhere may be taken.

In fact Tata has said that it can be serviced anywhere, though it will be sold through select dealerships

Based on the serviceability, I think, only point 1 may be valid, but that argument is also very weak on a standalone basis.

Come back my dear, come back to your Indian senses. The fuel efficiency is not at all good for a 1.2L petrol engine . May be they should provide skinny tires so as to improve fuel efficiency a little better. Thank God there is a City mode available, again

With the recent crop of Tata vehicles that come with different driving modes I have come to a conclusion that each driving mode has been aptly tuned :
City - Maximum torque capped but plenty of it in the lower revvs. So change gears early and get a decent FE. This mode will be happy at higher gear + lower revvs.
Sport - Maximum torque available but the difference is felt only one drives flat out ie use this mode when you have open roads / twisties and when you want to have fun. This mode will be enjoyed at 1 gear lower than the city mode. This mode will be happy at lower gears + higher rpms.
Eco - Forget the power and torque figures and just drive

Any update on when JTP twins are reaching the dealers? Have test-drives started anywhere or we'll have to wait till post-Diwali to see JTP in flesh? Looks like the launch has been mistimed and if deliveries start only after Diwali, not many might be interested to pick one up till beginning of next calendar year.

I went to Kropex, Hosur Road yesterday to enquire about JTP. The sales team has mentioned Nov 12 - 16 week for test drive car arriving in the showroom. A further 2 months waiting period may await all buyers.

Just spoke to Prerana Motors on Lalbagh Road (Bangalore). They have received the Test Drive Cars and can be test driven anytime. Will plan a visit for tomorrow. Exciting times ahead

Talked to Kropex Singasandra again. Tigor display vehicle is here and Tiago is in transit. Next week TD should be available for both.
