Display cars at auto expo had MRF ZLO. Should be a good OEM tyre for a start. But with 110ps and 150nm plus, 195 section seems like a must.

Polo TSI comes with 185 section tyres, I am guessing JTP won't be bettering TSI in performance. 195 section will be better any day though!

Actually they've also switched to 195/55 R16 in the last year or so. But given the previous size was 185, shouldn't be much of an issue with it too.

Those are Coimbatore number plates TN37. I cant figure out the location here in Coimbatore. Jayem Auto who does a lot of work for Tata is off Trichy road, at the eastern side of Coimbatore.
Not far from L&T toll road (which by the way is not maintained that great these days). Once a great road to test your wheels

The L&T road is best suited for testing top speeds & straight line stability, the full strength of a sports car lies in how best are the curves taken with the agile manuevering. Of course they have the Ooty ghat section for that.

Waiting for the launch and detailed TD reports. Feels like a nail biting finish of India Bangla cricket match at this point of time, waiting for the launch. Wonder why did they postpone it as I read the launch is on Oct 23rd.

IIRC, my friend has a 195 profile on his Tiago and it does scrape when the car is fully loaded

I live very close to Jayem and the L&T bye-pass is a stone's throw away. I have seen Jayem drive only sedately on these roads. High speed testing and manuevering curves is done at the Kari Speedway.

After the 4-laning work, L&T bye-pass remains the only two lane road (2 way traffic) around the entire city. It's crowded with all kinds of traffic jutting across.

The new Santro is launching tomorrow (23 Oct) and JTPs will definitely need exclusive space and time for launch.

Sorry, my friend confirmed that his Tiago has a 185 profile and not 195. Since I expect the JTP versions to have stiff springs, it may not sag under full load and scrape.

Pardon me if its something obvious that I missed but how would a wider tyre scrape easier than a narrower one? I would expect the overall diameter/higher vertical aspect causing it to scrape which could be further worsened by softer springs.
Wider tyre may scrape the inner walls while turning but that would need a spacer rather than stiffer springs.

Looks like you misread. What he really said was it might not sag if it has stiffer suspension.

Yes i understand that but prior to that he mentioned that with the 195/185 section tyres it scrapes. Do the wider tyres contribute to this?

That is the Residency hotel in Coimbatore. Looks like JTP will conduct the media drives too, taking upper hand over Tata. How does it happen for the performance divisions of other car makers like AMG, Abarth et all?
