The Grand i10 facelift has made it's official debut at the Paris Motor Show.

The most prominent changes have been made to the car's front that now gets a slightly more muscular bonnet, a new Cascading front grille, and new round LED daytime running lights, positioned at the edges of the grille. The car also gets a newly designed front bumper with angular lines and boomerang shaped air intakes that house the round fog lamps with chrome bezels.

The side profile of the new Grand i10 largely remains unchanged except for the new stylish ORVMs, new sporty 14-inch alloy wheel and the redesigned side mouldings with a new shape and size. On the other hand, the rear section sees some similar changes as the front like a new stylish bumper infused with a new black inlay as well as round rear fog lamps. The car gets bigger, restyled tail lamps, slightly redesigned hatch door and new spoilers.

Moving to the interior, the Grand i10 facelift gets an updated dual tone cabin with a new shade of red cloth coupled with the black cabin panels and seats. Customers can now also choose from blue and black interior colours on all trims. In terms of new gizmos, the car is equipped with connectivity features like a new 7-inch touchscreen navigation system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for integration, safe operation and mirrored functionality of mobile devices based on iOS or the Android operating system. Other features include automatic air conditioning, heated steering wheel and front seat warmers.

It looks like we will get the European i10's facelifted features on the Grand i10 (going by those circular reflector inserts on the rear bumper). I hope the LED DRLs also make it to the Grand i10, at least on the higher variants!

This picture tells us a few things about the interior - height-adjustable front neck restraints, a touchscreen SAT-NAV system and climate control?

They have messed up the bumpers with those odd looking fog lamps in the center and the bigger reflectors at the back. This has made the car look very front / jaw heavy compared to the rest of the body.

Hope Hyundai shows some level of concern regarding safety features and does not restrict them to the top versions only. They are selling almost 10k units of the i10 every month and they do owe the consumer the choice of safety as part of their social corporate responsibility.

I still think they need to add standard ABS from the Magna variant onwards, and provide additional side & curtain airbags on the top Asta(O), in order to match the class leader in terms of safety (i.e. Ford Figo).

I would gladly have side & curtain airbags on the Asta(O) instead of a touchscreen SAT-NAV system & climate control, if the choice was between the two.

Hyundai's i10- facelift on test again,

the new Grand i10 will get a revised front end. This includes new bumper and possibly a slimmer logo grille. Changes are also expected at the back with a new bumper and tail lights. We can also expect the top spec version to come with a touch screen infotainment system.

The sad thing is that my friend had recently made a booking few days ago at V3 Hyundai in Chennai, Thiruvanmiyur showroom for the current model. He is purchasing through loan and also paid a down payment, Rs 1.5L today evening to the dealer.

Despite the fact that he enquired multiple times regarding the facelift, the sales guys never informed him regarding the probability of an early launch.

So is there any chance that he can convert the booking he made and get the new model? Is there something he can do about this?

Any help here would be much appreciated!

Firstly, You're Friend should have done research. And before paying Down Payment, he should have thinked about it, not just go by the Sales guy's words. Not much can be done on that part.

The Sales Guy will not tell a thing about Updates/Facelifts because he will having existing stocks to sell, he will be pressurized to sell one if they remain in stockyard for long time.

He can ask the Dealer to hold back on Registering the car in his name. Thats the best he can do.

In all probability, once the New cars reach the Dealerships & by chance if the car launches in next month or so, he can ask for New Model.

Since Grand i10 doesn't have any waiting, and the fact that the Facelift Launch isn't confirmed yet, he can go ahead with the current car or else wait & get new one. All is left to him. Good Luck.

Totally agree with you, the decision was made in a hurry even after knowing there could be an update in some time. But as you said, nothing was confirmed as far as India launch is concerned until today evening (as per the report shared) and hence he had gone ahead. Moreover this is going to be his first car and obviously there were lot ot excitement around it.

Sales guys tricks for selling the existing stocks is quite popular. Not sure how long we can hold the registration process. Since now we have some level of clarity regarding the launch, and if the dealer admits the same, hopefully he should be able to go for the new model if it arrives soon.

Anyways he will be talking to the dealer once again. I shall update the developments.
