re: Volkswagen imports the Tiguan. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27 - 31 lakhs

Thanks for the pictures. My dealer confirmed that 2 units of the vehicle has been received for display purposes. Launch is happening tomorrow at two branches of the dealer - One will host the Highline and another will host the Comfortline.

No information on price yet, the dealer says they will receive the notification first thing in the morning and will inform immediately. I doubt this, I think the price will be revealed at the national launch event and only then be communicated to dealers.

Not clear how they are going to handle the GST impact issue. If I was the Tiguan India product manager, this would be my number one worry. I don't think anyone will be willing to take delivery now knowing well the price may drop by anywhere from 6% to 10% in a month (depending on which of the hundreds of "GST impact analysis of SUV pricing" stories that are floating around in the media one chooses to believe)

re: Volkswagen imports the Tiguan. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27 - 31 lakhs

Saw two Tiguans being readied yesterday evening around 10pm. The dealer let me sit inside and take a quick look .

Instant impressions:

Spacious
Big panoramic sunroof.
well loaded, all sorts of electronic features abound. ASR, Hill Hold, TPMS, paddle shifters etc.

Big misses :
No navigation
No leather. The black fabric didnt seem/feel 35lac OTR premium.
Rear seat backrest inclination seemed excessive, personally I'd have preferred it to be a bit more upright. cannot be adjusted.

From the outside, the Tuscon seems to have bigger presence.

Indicative price 27-28, and 30 ex-showroom for the CL and HL respectively. dealer confirmed the speculation that they will position it as competition for the X1 and Q3.

I was looking fwd to it. But looks too pricey. Will make sense to wait for the Compass.

re: Volkswagen imports the Tiguan. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27 - 31 lakhs

My dealer has confirmed. 38 lacs on road for highline in Bangalore. Which means 30 lac ex showroom for highline. Can easily go for a fortuner.

Vw. What's the point of having a ckd. Even with cbu it would have been pricier.

Another DOA dud in the making if this is true. How can VW expect to sell it at 38 Lacs on road simply beats my logic!

By no navigation, do you mean no inbuilt navigation? The car does support apple carplay/android auto as far as I know so we can always us that for navigation. But yeah, inbuilt navigation should be provided at this price point but then again, if my memory serves me right, some of the Germans don't have navigation.

Not sure about the no leather seats. That can't be right at all and I thought the back seats were adjustable in terms of the reclining position. More disappointments :(.

Tech specs are up on VW site. The power at 143PS is quiet low for a SUV of that size and a GC of 149mm

Muted colours of Tiguan, Atlantic Blue would be my pick.

No Reverse Parking Camera in Comfort line

Other than that, I don't see any essential difference between Comfort line & Highline. Major difference is in Exterior package, for those who can live without Sunroof, LED tail lamp & Keyless system; wont be missing anything more than Reverse Parking Camera (which I believe is essential).

The leaked brochure seems to have been correct. Why in the world would we need Heated Seats. Volkswagen management launching this car in the heat of MAY should have at least been awake to this!

What we really need is cooled seats. Passat used to have that and I was hoping Tiguan would incorporate that instead of "heated" seats

Called up VW. It is only a heated seat, not cooled!
I wonder what they were smoking.

Yes, I mean in-built. Personally, I don't like car-play/mirror link systems at all. Not offering SatNav is cutting the wrong costs, and to what end? Doesn't look like this going to be a pleasant surprise when the pricing is revealed.

Volkswagen India launches its premium SUV Tiguan . Highline variant seem to be pricey. Comfortline pricing a lakh more than expected.

The Tucson suddenly looks more appealing with an onroad pricing of INR 31,79,000/- for the 2WD AT GLS in Bangalore. How will this pricing change after GST comes into play in July ?
