NOTES:

1: Thanks to the team at Auto Punditz for sharing these sales numbers with us!

2: Only cars that sell 500+ units (and thus, the relevant ones) have been included in the gainers & losers chart.

3. These manufacturer-reported sales numbers are factory dispatches to dealerships. They are NOT retail sales figures to end customers.

Thread moved from the Assembly Line to the Indian Car Scene.

Some more highlights of the Auto leader -Maruti Suzuki,

- Ten carmakers sold a total of 1,37,338 units in September; Maruti Suzuki alone sold 1,37,321 units

- Out of the nearly 2,74,659 units sold in September, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,37,321 units.

- For every two cars sold in the domestic market in September, Maruti sold one model.

- New launches -Ciaz, Baleno, Vitara Brezza have become segment leaders and continue to show good numbers and with customers support scale new heights.

Luxury Segment: Mercedes Benz rules the segment till date in 2016

Alto doing 27k again! Perhaps Maruti is pushing the M.S.Dhoni limited edition.

Maruti sells 10k units for Brezza, Baleno, Ciaz doing healthy 6k plus units.

Tiago seemingly stabilizing at monthly 4.5k units sales not very good.

Storme,Safari collectively doing just 750 units. Zero units sold of Aria.

Ameo 1.45k including diesel dispatches?

Kwid doing 10K plus units, sees no substantial addition of numbers after Kwid 1.0 launch.

Thanks for the report Aditya.

MSIL has set a record, their highest numbers in a month till date and have captured 50% of the market share.

VW back to square one, Ameo + Polo = ~3K odd numbers, was Ameo necessary?

I fail to understand why Tiago production has not been enhanced, its 6 month now since Tata got to know high demand for petrol variants.

This is a more stabilized sales trend. There should be no further surprises from now on.

The only new inclusion to the top 20 would be the Maruti Ignis, which would oust a 'non-maruti' vehicle from the top 20 list. Thanks to Innova Crysta pricing, it has boosted the sales of Ertiga, which is doing well in the commercial space and is only going to improve.

Something to cheer for Ford India, the aspire has achieved a 100% improvement, at least in MoM sales. But, from this month onward, the Ameo diesel is surely going to affect Aspire's sales.

However, for VW the introduction of Ameo did not prove worthwhile. Looks like the buyers of Polo got confused, were awaiting the diesel version of Ameo but ended up purchasing a Swift/Dzire.:D

Eon & Xcent would exchange places among themselves, depending on the sales in the commercial space. Off lately, there is a surge in the Eon Eco and Celerio AMT cabs.

Surprised to see the drop in sale of Ford Endeavour. The drop in sale might be result of sharads(inauspicious days)? Or the wait for new Toyota Fortuner ?

As per the report, these are manufacturer-reported sales numbers and are factory dispatches to dealerships. Majority of these vehicles shall be delivered to customers in month of October which is entirely a festive month. We shall see decline in figures in coming two months.

I finally saw two Nuvosports this month and I would like to see lesser of them in future.

It is very brave of Maruti to stop production of Ritz which is selling 2500 units a month. Many of the manufacturers do not have this sale for their entire range combined.

The Aspire is now very close to a podium finish (200 units behind the Amaze) I somehow have been a bit perplexed, as the Amaze, after a facelift to provide much improved interiors, seems to have lost it on the sales front...
Tata is now extremely close to sealing its 4th place after launching the Kite-5, I don't think Honda has any new volume-spinning product on the anvil.
Extreme performance from MSIL, and that is only going to keep increasing with the product onslaught they are planning.

I was eagerly waiting for this thread to know the Jeep sales figures. Too bad that we don't have them. Any specific reason for the Jeep to be missing from here?

Feel sad to see Terrano languishing at 200/300 figures in the last couple of months.
With Duster also clocking around 1000 sales this month, high time Renault & Nissan get serious and introduce a new product or a meaningful upgrade to counter the new compact SUVs, which are just running away with big numbers.

16k plus for WagonR. This seems to be highest ever Monthly number for this practical car
