Volvo will evidently introduce Polestar cars in India in near future. A single unit of the 2017 S60 Polestar has been imported for certification. While the Polestar kit/upgrade have been available in India for quite some time, it would be the first time a full-fledged Polestar edition car would be on offer.



2017 S60 Polestar is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine capable of 351 BHP@6000 RPM and a torque of 470 Nm@3100-5000 RPM. Power is delivered to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. 0-100 km/h comes up in 4.7 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.



Other features includes 20'' alloys, Öhlins suspension, Brembo brakes, shift paddles, rear spoiler and diffuser etc.

Look at that import price. It is just mouth watering. If the price stays the same for the retail, expect it to arrive at under 60l.

This car will go head on with the Audi S5 which is around 65 ex-showroom. It hasn't found very many takers at that price hence Volvo should price the S60 lower to get some sales.

Lower sales aside, such high-performance variants have a sureshot halo effect on the brand. They change the perception, especially in the eyes of enthusiasts. Volvo is surely hitting all the hot buttons. The sexy XC90 has greatly improved the brand's image (despite its 4-cylinder engine).

Sedans are getting seriously quick today. This figure is comparable to supercars of the 90s (e.g. Ferrari F355) .

Rumour: Volvo S60 Polestar India launch in early 2017

Volvo will reportedly be launching the S60 Polestar in India in the early months of 2017. This launch will mark the debut of the Polestar brand in the country, which is the Swedish automaker's performance division.

Going by the previous Volvo trends, it could be priced as low as 50L ex-showroom. Specification wise, its in competition with CLA 45 AMG and yet to be launched 2017 Audi S5, both of which are in 65L+ bracket.

Would have been so much happier if they got the V60 instead of S60. Got to drive one in Norway recently and the V60 is so much more practical. The boot is big enough to swallow a small elephant.

Correct!
It's almost as fast as the 2005-2010 BMW M5, which came a monster 5.0 V10.
Just a decade ago, when that M5 appeared, people went mad over it's performance, and even compared it to the F430 etc.

But of course, there is no denying the fact that the volvo wont sound even half as much good as the hair raising V10 of the M5 or the screaming V8s/V12s of the 90s.

I second that. Considering the fact that they are coming in as CBUs, Volvo could have tested the waters for estates once again. The only other estate I can think of currently on sale is an Audi RS6 (tick the items on option list and will be likely priced 3 times that of an S60 Polestar).

Whattay gorgeous looking car! Quite happy that some manufacturers are ok to bring in such HAWT variants to Indian market. The S60 is such a beatiful car and that blue makes it all the more special.
