I think @Dr.Naren had mentioned about this problem a couple of months back.

Read in one site that they are recalling close to 50000 Kwids. No wonder it is a silent recall.

Yes, I had mentioned about the problem. Renault dealership had agreed to replace fuel pump under warranty. I was supposed to get an update from dealer and it's been 2 months now. I too did not call them because I was too busy with S-Cross remap .

Don't think it is a quiet recall. I read this in Times of India, today. The news says 50,000 units of Kwid has been recalled.

Quote:
"Datsun is conducting a voluntary recall campaign on certain India-manufactured Datsun redi-GO vehicles to inspect the fuel hose and fix a clip at no cost to the customer," Nissan Motor India said in a statement.

Datsun will start notifying affected owners from this month.

The recall will affect units manufactured till May 18, 2016, a company official said.

Re: Renault Kwid 0.8L & Datsun Redi-GO recall to add a fuel hose clip

For an aggressively priced car like the Kwid, a recall of this size could potentially impact profit margins a bit. However it's good to see they are doing it - perhaps trying to send a message to the market that they don't intend to cut corners on quality though a faulty part fell through the quality check process.

Re: Renault Kwid 0.8L & Datsun Redi-GO recall to add a fuel hose clip

My friend took his KWID for the recall campaign in Gurgaon. His was first batch (Oct-2015) vehicle. Following parts were replaced :

1. Fuel Tank (reason was unknown)
2. Fuel Filler Cap (new cap has some kind of negative pressure valve)
3. Fuel Pipe clamp was added to under body (to minimize fuel line sagging)
4. Clutch Pedal (auto-adjuster type, reason was unkown)
5. Clutch Cable (compatible with the new pedal)
6. Battery wiring Harness (replaced with thicker one, reason was unknown)

So, it seems much more than "a pre-emptive and voluntary inspection" and "a proactive measure, a fuel hose clip will be added" as mentioned in the OP.
Some serious reasons must have compelled Renault to carry out such big replacements, but they are hiding it under the seemingly harmless reasons.

Can other KWID owners confirm about the changes done to their vehicles ?

Do you think any of the above parts could contribute to your problem ?

Many thanks to Vijai C for sharing! More details on the recall.

I was waiting for an official statement (on the recall) from Renault India or from the dealer, but there was none.

When it was time for my annual service (November 2016), I came to know that they have kept it a secret; I only got to know about this by the final invoice where it shows the fuel tank assembly components being replaced.

Attached is a picture of the invoice.

I have got a letter from Renault India asking to get my car inspected and "fuel hose clip" would be changed. But in reality, they are replacing fuel tank assembly in most of the cars. Not to forget, fuel pump is also included in tank assembly. I had complained about weird sound from fuel pump few weeks before the official recall.I was assured that it would be replaced under warranty and then no updates for months. Only few days back, I received the letter. Renault India made it sound like a minor issue by saying fuel hose clip

Re: Renault Kwid 0.8L & Datsun Redi-GO recall to add a fuel hose clip

Regarding recall notice, Fuel hose clip was replaced. Fuel tank cap is also supposed to be replaced, but the part was not available.

I had complained about fuel pump sound few weeks before the recall and it was also replaced under warranty. Renault has also updated ECU Map for Kwid. Car feels much much better now .
