Although the overall design lines look better than earlier iterations, the MS folks left their signature mark by adding unwanted faux wood inserts in steering wheel and dash, beige opulence and dollops of chrome linings in the front. Hmm.

Very personal opinion but the excess of chrome on the grill makes it look really ugly. Also the faux wood near the steering looks out of place for a sub 4m sedan. Hexagonal grill seems to be the flavor of the season but it looks really nice on the ford than this Maruti

Life comes a full circle. New DZire in white color has a very close resemblance to good old HM Ambassador.
That loud chrome lip and after market chrome job will take it to next level.

I think it's AGS badge not SVHS. Maruti would have taken customer feedback and decided to launch AMT in VDI version too.

I feel it's AMT variant because :

1. Maruti uses SVHS badge above the variant badge and it's little longer too


2. AGS badge is placed below the variant badge and little shorter as seen on current Dzire ZDI AMT.

Nice. Maruti have stepped up their game. Looks bulbous, but in a good way. Though I absolutely hate the wood finished plastic on the steering wheel.

Also, agreed that Dzire totally spoils the image of Swift.

But one question which still haunts me is why is Ameo not a success? Looks clean inside out and has a stonking powertrain. Dzire's success proves that reliability and great A.S.S. play a much larger role than the car itself.

Something to ponder upon.

The front of the new Dzire has to some extent a retro look. A 2017 ambassador would probably have this look.
Interior looks shady in the picture. Beige and too much of wood is not in trend. Most of the high end cars are going all black , why would Maruti give this multicolour interior to otherwise a fresh interior design.

For a DZire nothing is shady as people just love the name and the brand. It may be a master stroke by Maruti to shift Ciaz to Nexa and reposition DZire as a premium offering. If the ground clearance is anywhere near 180 this could be my next drive.

Also due to the fact that they were the last to enter the market, clear evidence of how important is the parameter called "time-to-market".

Don't go with GC numbers alone. A car with 180 mm GC and soft suspension would be more prone to underbody hits than a car with 170mm GC and stiffer suspension. Wheelbase is another important criteria. I don't think even next gen Dzire would have any GC issues.

I completely echo your thoughts! The fist thing that came to my mind after looking the front of the car was, Gosh!! This looks like an Ambassador!

I don't see anything exciting about this car. In comparison, I personally feel, TATA Tigor has a lot more on offer and will surely be priced a bit lower than Dzire.

The rear does look like condensed version of the good old Kizashi, which is not bad at all. However, wish Maruti had given it a better face and back.

The car is sub 4M. The better integration of the boot with the rest of the car is making it look bigger IMHO.

It looks a lot better than the outgoing sedan and that will work squarely in Maruti's favor.

Add to that, if they can give CVT petrol + AMT Diesel option throughout the range, it will sound death knell for its competitors.

I have an ignis with 180 gc. Never once it has scraped any speed breaker or bad stretch of road.

Ameo is a failure because it is a VW.
Both the Polo & Ameo are still selling decent numbers, in spite of being VWs. (World renowned in India for shoddy After sales )

Second factor is the engine at the entry level. The 1.2 3Cyl Mpi. Dont need to describe it further.
