This is definitely a wonderful effort from Maruti. Looks like they wanted to differentiate the new swift and Dzire and hence created a different interior (Dashboard) from that of the new swift. Hope the new swift comes with the international dashboard layout. The faux wood look on the steering spoils it for me. This will now cross 20K in monthly sales for sure. Beware Tigor, Xcent et al. The leader is now coming with greater ammunition!

Why on earth they decided to reduce ground clearance to 163 mm? I am sure they must have their own analysis but 163 is too less for those rough road patches.

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

The car displayed to the media has Bridgestone Ecopia tyres!! Now is that a first for a Maruti? I hope the production cars also come with these tyres rather than the Maruti standard JK and Apollo ones.

Is there a Tweeter in there? I hope it comes with a similar ICE configuration and SQ as the Ignis!

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

One thing I don't understand is how come the Diesel model sheds 105KG, while Petrol model sheds only 85KG. If the reduction in weight is due to the change in the underlying platform and as there is no change in engine options, the weight reduction also should be uniform across the models.

Otherwise, the new platform may be capable of handling the additional weight of Diesel engine and components, without much modification or strengthening to it.

The latest entrant: Ignis also came with Ecopia, at least for its media drive.

Noticed this misaligned plastic panel while watching the Autoportal video. I guess it's still too much to expect good build quality from Maruti.

It may just be camera angles, but the nearly-horizontal rear A/C vent seems like an ergonomic disaster!

AFAIK, Ecopia tires are low rolling resistance tires and will further help in stretching the fuel economy.
