@Carma - Thanks for the updates and it seems your information is on right track. Press reports are out that New Swift won't be coming to India this year and it would be Feb / Mar 2018.

But there's no news on Dzire, which is off course India Specific. Might not come in April 2017 and it might be pushed to the year end.

They can also use that time to shave off important bits from the Swift and make it confirm to the current safety norms in India while satisfying the 'Kitna Deti Hai' tagline.

Apologies for being but I simply couldn't resist posting this.

not true. Dzire is definitely 100% going to be less than 4 m with the same engines that it has currently. It will look much better like a sedan and will have the same lightweight sturdy safe platform as the Baleno.
Engine changes if any will be the 1.5 L diesel only and when it gets a 1.5 L diesel, it will also get SHVS to avail the excise duty benefits

3. Swift will come by festival time, production not yet started.
Yes @Carma is absolutely right. Oct/Nov/Dec 2017 launch seems unlikely for the Swift as by that time, there will be only 3 months left for the year. They definitely do not want a 2017 model vs. 2018 model discussion with a launch so late.

See the latest announcement from Maruti Suzuki: http://www.hindustantimes.com/autos/...PxJgwcu1M.html

They say 2 facelifts and 2 new cars in Fiscal Year 2018. By Fiscal year, they mean Apr 1, 2017 to Mar 31, 2018. The facelifts are definitely the Ciaz and the S-cross
New cars will be the new Swift and the new Dzire. The announcement also means that they will definitely have a launch Jan-Mar 2018 and that has to be the Swift

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

If it is going to be less than 4m and a diesel of 1.5L, it would already be in the lowest excise bracket. SHVS will not make much difference for excise.
I'd welcome SHVS for better fuel efficiency though.

Are you sure that the DZire will be built on the same lightweight 'sturdy' 'safe' platform as the Baleno. AFAIKK, DZire is based on the Swift platform and is an India specific product. Baleno already is close to 4m and there is no way they would be able to patch a boot onto that without going over 4m.

Platform is different from the car.

Suzuki developed a new platform for the Baleno, which will also be used for new Swift, and hence the Dzire which is based on the Swift.

Scoop! Next-gen Maruti Swift Dzire spotted testing again

Thanks to Prateek Arneja for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing these with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

A heavily camouflaged test mule of the next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire has recently been spotted testing near the company's R&D center in Rohtak. The car is expected to be launched in India later this year, ahead of the introduction of its hatchback sibling - the new-gen Swift.

The spotted model has been heavily disguised under thick camouflage, though some design elements are visible from beneath the covers. The car's headlamps are similar to the ones seen on the new-gen Swift, while the bonnet shut lines too are identical to that of the hatchback. The front bumper appears to house a larger air-dam compared to the one found on the current model.

At first glance, the rear end might look similar to that of the present-gen Dzire, though closer inspection reveals slightly thinner C-pillars and a wider rear windscreen. Additionally, the boot lid is a new unit that gets a sharp kink above the taillights, something that is missing on the current model.

Maruti is expected to equip the new-gen Dzire with the same 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol and 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engines found in the current model. However, the company might retune these engines for improving power delivery and efficiency.

The upcoming Dzire will be based on the new-gen Swift (pictured below). The two cars are expected to share most of the design cues, especially at the front.

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

Maruti has handed over a monthly sales of 3K units to opponents when they stopped the production of Ritz "Tour" (?). Same may repeat if the DZire Tour is stopped to introduce current DZire as Tour.

Can Maruti launch a wagon version of current DZire to replace the Tour? This will ensure the following advantages:

i. Effective luggage capacity can be more than 400 Ltrs
ii. Or, 2 child seats can be fitted at the rear
iii. The car can be still under 4m to avail the excise benefits, thus the price may come below the current DZire Tour
iv. Easy handling in cities

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

New Maruti Dzire spied undisguised ahead of launch – Production starts

New Dzire inspired from Following Cars at following Angles

Front - New Swift
Rear - Amaze
Side - Ciaz
Roof Design - Zest

This particular color seems to be inspired from Taat Zest.

Quote:
The next gen Dzire is based on a new platform. Like the new Swift, it will also be based on the lightweight platform of Baleno, resulting in higher fuel efficiency.

Quote:
A revamped exterior design, all-new interior and added features will be the highlights. The front will be very similar to the new generation Swift, with projector headlamps and LED DRLs. In the center will be a new grille.

Quote:
Speaking about launch, sources reveal that Maruti has preponed the launch of DZire. Instead of second of 2017, the launch date is expected to be sometime in April 2017

But prices will be hiked by 60-70K? For what, Maruti?

If it is a +4m car, then we can agree.

Or, is it the premium people have to pay for Suzuki manufacturing these cars at their wholly owned Gujarat plant? If yes, nonsense.

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

Seems like Maruti have manged much better proportioned car this time, looks longer than 4 meters to me. The new Swift is a better handler (as per UK/ European reviews) & got favourable feedback.

The DZire will be comfort oriented, still much better than competition. If I were in market, I would find difficult to choose between - DZire, Aspire, Tigor & (New~upcoming) Xcent.

Interesting times, though we know Maruti will triumph the sales charts.
