The article sounds ridiculous and hurriedly put up.
I guess you were confused.

The article has compared this new Dzire Tour (<4m) with the Old one (>4m).

Old Dzire /Dzire Tour had boot space of 464L, while the compressed Dzire (Sub 4m) has 316L boot. So, the New Dzire Tour will have same 316L boot.

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

This looks more like a face-lift than anything else and is based on the current platform itself. Also, the existing Dzire will become Dzire tour. So we know the new facelifted Dzire will eventually become a taxi car down the line.

If we look at the latest pictures, the one in the white definitely looks longer than 4m but the one in blue looks shorter. Perhaps it's the angle of the photos that is causing the illusion. It could possibly be under 4m.

Indeed the silhouette is very close to the Xcent, which is definitely not a bad thing but the front is so Ambassador.

Don't even want to comment on the fake wood inserts on the steering.

I am sure the second image is not of the new Tour. It's a "VXi" model (see the blackened A-pillar and VVT badge).

The new DZire won't have the A-pillar blackened and won't have the chrome on grill, imo. They will (and should) make it look different from the current Dzire. Will the taxi segment accept it? Wait and see.

Yes, it's clearly the angle of the picture. BHPian Carma2017 has already seen the car in flesh and has confirmed on this thread that the next gen Dzire is indeed less than 4 metres in length. Looking at the overhang and the boot, I wonder if Maruti Suzuki have had to make compromises on the cabin space.

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

I believe designing a car has become more of an exercise in completing a Successful-Mantra checklist:

1. Chrome on Grill- Check
2. Projector Headlamps- Check
3. Diamond cut alloys- Check
4. Chrome Strip on the Window line- Check
5. Black 'n' Beige Interiors- Check
6. Some more Chrome- Check

Now, not that I am against all this, but certain car shapes warrant certain treatment, and it should look good, when you put it all together. When designers start putting in design elements, just for the sake of it, then aesthetics go out of the window!

Having said that, now that the Dzire got proper proportions; "DECHROMINIZATION" should be easy!
Wait, did I invent a word there!

"Dechromization" should be the correct word

There is a huge potential for workshops which add chrome to / remove chrome from cars, I guess.

A crude extraction from the spyshots. Original image source: Gaadiwaadi

Looks sleeker than current one. Curvier A-pillar-to-roof joint, narrower C-pillar, Kizashi-like boot... all add to this. Sort of a compressed Ciaz. Ciaz is going to be affected seriously after this launch, IMO. Moving Ciaz to Nexa will add fuel to this.

Way ahead for Ciaz? The 1.6 DDiS and 1.5 / 1.4 Boosterjet Petrol.

Interestingly the NDTV report mentions that the petrol will have a 4 speed conventional AT whereas the diesel will come with the AMT.

Wonder why Maruti wants to switch back to conventional torque converter in petrol DZire, given the relative success of AMT gearbox in Ignis with same engine.

Agree, this might do the same what it did to SX4 earlier.

Ciaz needs to stand out from the Dzire lineup. Powerful engines or more premium features.

Dzire and Ciaz side by side at a Maruti showroom would have been a disaster for Ciaz. Good move to shift the full sized to Nexa.

What a horrible design - as made from the pics. Doesn't look good at all. Might be different in flesh. I thought the same about S-Cross but ended up buying it

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

CarDekho is reporting that dealers in Delhi and Mumbai have started to accept bookings (albeit unofficially) for the next gen Dzire. Can any of the friendly BHPians in Delhi and Mumbai confirm this? Has some one from this forum actually booked one?

My dad has booked a ZXi on 27th March in Coimbatore and they have promised a delivery by Mid May. The news from the Sales person is that they are expecting the Launch by end April or Begining May and he is the 2nd person to book the new DZire

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

Launching in May 2017, Maruti dealers have unofficially started accepting bookings for the new car with the booking amount varying from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.

Quote:
the third-gen Dzire could likely be based on the current model’s platform rather than moving over to the platform from the Baleno that also underpins the all-new Swift. Also with pricing being a major factor in the segment, it could be likely that Maruti has opted for a major overhaul rather than a grounds-up new sedan

New Dzire Tour
The current-gen Dzire will be transformed into the taxi-friendly Dzire tour. It is expected to be sold in diesel and for the first time in petrol and CNG options too.
