Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

Maruti has the best vehicle in almost all segments. Compact sedan was one segment where Maruti did not have a well-rounded package. But with this new iteration, my opinion on the Dzire has changed. It looks a good option for those looking for a compact segment - good legroom, good width and useful boot space!

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

Is it clear from the media drives yet, that:

1) If the new DZire comes with conventional automatic/CVT for Petrol variant or only AMT ?

2) What is the boot space of the new DZire?

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

Looks like Diesel AMT is going to continue, which is great for everyone. Well loaded compact car, diesel, automatic is perfect combination for both city and highway. Don't care much for the faux wood inserts though, nor for the beige ac vents on the sides. Also Maruti should have provided

Points observed
  1. Variant pictured is Dzire ZDi+ AMT
  2. No center hand rest on AMT variant
  3. Faux wood inserts and beige aircon vents on the side are not the most attractive parts
  4. As expected Smartplay infosystem comes to the Swift line. Expect it to come to every Maruti car in the next couple of years

All in all, it makes the recent Xcent and Amaze updates seem futile and this car will only seek to reinforce Dzire's position as country's top selling car. I expect it to be priced 30-40k less than comparable Baleno, which is simply great

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

Any guess on the Petrol AMT Top end variant pricing ? (ZXi + AGS)

I would assume since the current Baleno Zeta CVT cost around 7.7 lacs ex showroom - it should be similar for top end DZire AMT. Note that Zeta is not the top variant of Baleno, but considering DZire being positioned lower than Baleno, 7.5-7.7 should be the ideal range for DZire AMT ZXi+.

Few things I noticed from the pictures:
  • Dzire now has rear AC vents along with most probably an USB port or 12V charging socket
  • The LED used as DRL change colour i.e. they are white when lit as DRL and change to orange when used as turn indicators

If you look closely you will see amber coloured bulbs separately in both headlamps and tail lamps. Colour changing LED's will be too expensive for Maruti to offer.

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

Boot space has increased to 376 liters!

Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire-clj0xqw0aq32cp.jpg

Also, the new DZire has become slightly more spacious inside the cabin, with shoulder room boosted by 20mm at the front and 30mm at the back.
Legroom is also boosted at the rear by 50mm.

Engine options will be the same 1.2L VVT & 1.3L DDiS, but both engine types will get AMT options now.
AMT (AGS, in Maruti's slang) To be offered in V_i/Z_i/Z_i+ trims.

The difference between the old and the new DZire platforms. The one on the left (in orange) is the new HEARTECT platform.
Petrol = 85 kgs lighter, Diesel = 105 kgs lighter.
Should translate to better FE figures than before!

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

That's a lovely side profile - very Kizashi'ish no?
Lovely interiors (save for faux wood on the steering wheel), the backseat looks very comfy, performance would be more than adequate from what I gather - the perfect middle-class family car then

What's with Suzuki and these new toothy grills ? S-Cross and now this!

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

Looks so much better than the current one. Three things I never liked in dzire- leg room, boot space and looks, seems Maruti has addressed all 3 of them now. In fact, boot space is more than Aspire!

I am very much interested in seeing how Maruti prices this one though even if they overprice it won't matter as this will be a blockbuster for sure.

I think, the color temperature/White balance of the indoor photos is playing a trick or two here
This one shows more traditional LED color and presence of the amber color indicator bulb would go against the color changing LED. Having said that, it would be really awesome to see Maruti bring in such novelties to mass market.
Lets hope for few more good surprises from Maruti.

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

I love the new dzire , especially the LED DRL . Since i will be getting the petrol top end variant for my dad , I am just waiting for the pricing of the AMT . It would be quite a replacement for his 13 year old Alto . As per Motoroids , it gets reverse paring camera too .

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

The front of the car looks astonishingly good! I wonder is they've decided to go for chic retro designs on their cars. The Ignis would be a case in point. I'm a fan. Looks like a premium high end design.

Let's hope they price it competitively!

Re: Caught testing! The 2017 Maruti Dzire

Love the new design - bit of Kizashi and old Baleno sedan bits. Nobody will discard this DZire because of its design. But removing the Swift tag from it will have its own consequences, IMO. The "Swift" tag is what made the DZire a popular one.

Good for Maruti, Nexa and Ciaz that the boot is 376. Anything that goes beyond 400L would seriously affect Ciaz (having 510L boot)

Does that mean that there is not much difference between the old Swift platform and the new lightweight modular platform of Suzuki?
