Hyundai is reported to have started development of the next-gen Creta. The car is expected to be unveiled in 2021. While the Korean automaker hasn't revealed any details, media reports claim that in its new avatar, the Creta will likely be offered in a 5-seater as well as a 7-seater configuration.

Hyundai has reportedly studied customer requirements and inferred that there are two different markets for 5-seater and 7-seater crossovers & SUVs. With the next-gen Creta, the automaker is planning to target both these markets. In the current arrangement of the Indian market, the 7-seater SUV segment consists of the Honda BR-V, the Mahindra XUV5OO and Scorpio, and the upcoming Tata Hexa.

The Creta has been an important car for Hyundai in India. Since its launch last year, Hyundai has managed to sell over 1 lakh units of the car in the country. By offering the next-gen model with two seating configurations, Hyundai will be looking to further expand the Creta's target audience.

If true this will be a good strategy clap: and maybe launch it in two avatars.
They use a similar strategy for Santa Fe at least in USA. Santa Fe sport is the normal 5 seater and then there is the bigger 7 seater Santa Fe.

At least for some people its a deal breaker, if there is no 3rd row, hopefully they plonk different engines in the 2 variants, and price reasonably. This should have them covered across all ends of this market.

2021 :Shockked:?

That's about 5 years from now. I don't even think people will be excited today, to wait for this long. By then, the competition would have run away from the market.

We are almost coming to the end of the petrol/diesel car era. By 2030, we will see purely gasoline engine lines closing. So a car launched in 2022 has only chance to be relevant for 8 years. After which spares and parts have most chance of drying up.

Carmakers these days do what the competition does.

I say this because the next gen RENAULT DUSTER is also going to come with a 7 seat config, so this was no surprise.

I hate this. Read this about the Duster too. The Duster and Creta are perfectly sized 5 seaters. If you want a bigger 5 seater, there's the Tucson. If you want a bigger 7 seater there's the Santa Fe. If you must offer a slightly bigger 7 seater option, create another vehicle.

Growing a size for me means you're now offering a different product.
