Personally after driving the Cherokee Latitude and the Jeep Patriot and even the Renegade in the US, Im not really excited about this Compass.
To me, they ought to have considered the Patriot and the Renegade for India in preference to the Compass.
And if they priced them right using several grains of common sense, then these two would be runaway hits in their top spec trims!
Seriously, Jeep needs to accelerate its engagement in India and somehow overcome its own bureaucracy and the environment, in order to take advantage of the huge Jeep fan club that exists out here in India.
Many of us are just waiting for a good, fair priced Jeep and we'll upgrade like a shot!

Shankar - I do not have prior experience with Jeep vehicles and therefore, cannot comment on Compass vs. Renegade but based on what I see on paper, the former does look like a well put together package to me. I hope to God they price it right or else I will again have to go back to Fortuner vs Endy dilemma.

I stumbled upon this link searching for Jeeps coming in 2017. I guess this is this the one we can expect in India, at least in form. My guess is based on the tail lamps and side profile.

India will get 3 variants of the Compass, including the 'Trail Hawk' shown in the picture you posted.

Sorry for the long shots and poor picture quality, had no option being a single driver stuck in Delhi-NCR traffic.

Size was almost like Creta.

Yes thats a Jeep Renegade. About as large or just a bit bigger than the Yeti.
Very capable machine indeed especially in its Trail Rated 4WD avatar.
Perfect small SUV and if they were to bring it in to India at a fair price (around 25 lacs) it will fly off the shelves, being a Jeep!:)

The Compass was spotted on a highway test run near Gurgaon by an IAB reader.

Quote:

The Compass measures 4,416 mm long, 1,819 mm wide, 1,645 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,636 mm. It slots into the segment that comprises of the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming VW Tiguan. Thanks to local production, prices the 2017 Jeep Compass could start from under 30 Lakhs.

A 1.4L Multiair turbocharged engine is tipped to power the petrol variant, while the diesel variant will pack a 2.0L Multijet II turbodiesel 4-cyl unit. A 6-speed manual or 9-speed AT could be the Compass diesel’s transmission options, along with Jeep’s Active Drive 4×4 system as an exclusive option.

As per this article, the Compass has already sold 2500+ units in Brazil within a month of its launch in the country (on Nov 05). No wonder - what a looker it is :thumbs up Just hope that FCA gets the pricing right in India!!

Dont think it is gonna fly of the shelves :) if priced at 25 lacs. They should price it in the range of the Creta or slightly more. The Yeti in itself lost it because of the heavy price. The Compass should be the premium offering and the Renegade should retail between 14-16 lacs. That would make it really fly of the shelves :D IMHO

Does it mean both compass and renegade are getting launched?

I thought only Compass was getting launched.

I am not sure for one to be honest. There are conflicting reports. There are also reports of a India specific Renegade (read <4 M CSUV) being readied which is basically a shortened version of the same. It is still not confirmed whether the India Renegade will be named the same or if it will be sub 4M or the regular one. Sorry if I have confused you more as I myself am a little confused stupid:

Cheers

Actually you may be right about a ecosport type of offering from Jeep but that may be in 2018. This one may be styled after the Renegade. It is being to referee to as the B-SUV in some circles...

A Carwale spy has captured the interiors of the 2017 Jeep Compass (Indian version) for the very first time.

Quote:

A touch screen system is seen on the centre of the dashboard. Then there's a compass, automatic climate control, parking sensors, engine start-stop push button, 12V charging socket, AUX/USB input etc.
Jeep will offer a four-wheel drive system as indicated through the multi-drive knob showing snow, sand mud and auto driving modes.
Then there's a rear blower for the convenience of passengers in the second row as well.
A six-speed manual gearbox is expected to be offered as standard as seen in the spy pictures

Disappointed that there's no mention of an AT as well. Most successful products over 13-14 lakh price point are all coming with credible AT options as well. I hope Jeep doesn't limit this only to a manual tranny like Skoda has done with the overpriced Yeti.
