Volkswagen Vento gets updated 1.5L TDI engine

Updated brochure shows the new 1.5L TDI engine has been added to the Vento.

Looks like it was a silent update done by Volkswagen India.

Re: 2016 Volkswagen Vento Facelift spotted testing

So if the Silk Blue and new 110 ps Diesel engine are already here. What happened to the LED headlights we were discussing slated for this 'facelift'?

Ahm Ahm I thing that went into the GTI and the 25.99 Lks Ex Showroom Price !!

I for one really can't understand VW strategies at times. Surely they would have had a proper reason to launch this Silk Blue shade across almost all their models now, but this shade is reserved for the Polo Allstar ONLY ??

I agree it gives some exclusivity factor, but they could have included GT as well into this shade, as there is not a lot that separates it from the Highline variant.

The D1 segment cousins are quite the opposite no? Octavia gets the 1.8 TSI, Jetta doesn't. Jetta had made safety standard across the range, Octavia gets 8 airbags only in the top variant.

Besides VW not sharing the 1.2 TSI seems only India specific. VW even launched the TDI DSG a day ahead of Skoda.

However Fabia is available with the 1.2 TSI along side Polo even in the home German market. The powertrains in use are the same from a cursory look

What happened to months and months of spy shots with the LED headlights? Highline Plus variant?

As it stands today among the useful features, lower sibling Ameo gets a reverse camera. Cousin Rapid TDI DSG gets projectors on the top variant. Vento gets neither. Except the TSI motor, there's nothing else justifying the premium for Vento.

Another question I'd like to ask is: Does Vento get the Care and Care+ packages now?

Not a bad update! More power plus economy!

Re: Volkswagen Vento gets updated 1.5L TDI engine

My SA informs me that TDI DSG would only be available in Jan 2017 and the prices would be revised as well. Any idea if this is true?

Interestingly, for the 105 ps engine, DSG was marginally more efficient than the manual while it is the opposite for 110 ps engine.

Its for one cannot understand strategy of most car makers these days.

VW Polo GTi at 25L
Hyundai Tucson at 27L etc.

People within pricing strategy department of automakers are not in sync with common man and are living in their own fools paradise.

Re: Volkswagen Vento gets updated 1.5L TDI engine

Are the differences between old and new engine called out somewhere. Since there are no other changes (particularly in DSG), if the price difference is 1 Lakh (because of discounts offered on the older version), should one buy the old or the new car.

Engine is same. VW has used new locally made "bigger" turbo and hence 5 HP gain. I have been told that older imported turbo had very strong build and capable of handling high EGT's. I do not know about this new locally made turbo. If you get around a lakh discount, it doesn't make much sense to go with new Vento.
