we will look into the fit and finish of the India cars.
Looks you guys are privy to some more information

Quote:
when you compare Kerbweight of SWB cars on Chinese website the SWB E200 is 1600 KG and LWB is 1800 KG,
That's quite an information, in my opinion, they must have used the same vendor for chassis design & dynamics as HO like Continental, but yes you are correct, E Class was not conceived as a primary LWB unlike S-Class so there must be some patchwork but 200 Kg is large, perhaps some other reasons.

My guess is Mercedes want to cream the market first,
Of course, every manufacturer will like to earn maximum profit but the way MB India has priced their products in recent past, I don't think they will bother much about BMW and pricing for 5 series. Again on engines, due to changes in CKD Import tariffs, they are getting these assembled and are sharing engines on a lot of products. I don't think they will be in hurry to launch newer generation only for one model until it becomes absolutely mandatory.

Ajmat,

Looks like from the pictures someone has posted of the India Specific car those hideous tea pot cup holders have not made it to our cars. I guess one good thing they did? Coming back to the car please do get information on E43/63 or any of the SWB cars Please?

I assume they have invested a lot in this LWB operation and I truly wonder if the small volumes will allow them to invest in SWB also besides the niche CBU Cars?

But I do believe Mercedes-India truly ignored those who are so much in love with Mercedes.

Turbanator,

I have some people I know at MBUSA and MB Germany, Turns out most of the work carried on in LWB E-Class or any China Specific car is done by their Chinese Subsidiary, so I truly assume materials used to stiffen the cars etc. are not of the same quality as the ones for S-Class LWB / Maybach.

I still can't get over the fact that S-Class SWB vs LWB has a difference of 20-25 KG while E-Class has over 200 KG.

VKumar,

Wow! Thank you those are some good pointers to what we get, that must be the basic model looking at the instruments?

That Wood trim is so tasteless, I mean E-Class now comes with such lovely trims and Mercedes-India choose this? Is this what 350d also gets? Any pictures of 350d?

Thank you so much.

Thank you so much,
The pictures of the interiors are definitely of the E200. No Burmester and stuff on the E200. E350d has better interior trims as told to me.

They are definitely not launching the SWB variant as of now. But you sure can get them to import one privately for you. MB India is supposed to launch the E43 and E63s shortly as well.

My information on this is that the AMG cars are not affected by this. They will continue to launch the AMG versions, which are all CBUs from Germany, as they are internationally, and these will not be LWB. Even in China E Class is available only in SWB version.

As per the info I got, the posted above, is the interior that you have been asking for. One closer pic for your reference.

That is an E200. The diesel wouldn't redline at 6500rpm. Also I hope the 350d has the digital instrument cluster, even though this one looks quite nice.

Please re-read the question that I have answered.

The question said: "How does the interior of 350D looks?"

Answer was: "Same as above" (This is the info I got, can be wrong)

Still, I am wrong here. The complete answer should have been "Same as above, with a tachometer redlining at 4500".

So when I used the term 'above', it any ways didn't meant the pic 'below'. It was just for a closer look of the interior shots in my previous post.

I hope Akshay is right if NOT then MB India has surely messed up a lot of things with Indian/ Chinese variants. If they want something exclusively for typical " Lala Ji/ Sethi Ji / Owner - Chauffer Driven " probably MB India should not bother launching 6 cylinders.

Better I start saving for new 530, Let's see if new MD can convince Germany and get some CBU - 5 Series around May with all that gizmos

Akshay,

You still owe me the CLS ride, and coming back to this car is there any way we can get interior pictures of that grey car I believe that's 350d? I am certain that will have the virtual cockpit?

VKumar,

Thank you so much really but if you are a member there would you be able to ask for more pictures of the grey car interior please? If this isn't much of a trouble?

So are you saying the interiors will be completely the same, or just the wood trim? I'm still not able to understand.

The E350d would most probably have a different wood trim, and hopefully a few more features to differentiate. I may be wrong though.

And BTW the question asked was whether the 350d would get the same wood trim as the 200, the pictures of which are posted 'above'.

@Akshay and @Mercedesgirl
The source cited that the interior is same (maybe he meant design wise and not as per the trims). Still, we can wait for the pics of 350d to surface. As I have already written above, "this is the info I got, can be wrong".

What actually surprised me too was the statement that interior is same. I wish he meant 'similar'.

Checked with one of my knowns, 6 Cylinder Diesel - Expected around 70 Lac+, 4 Cylinder Petrol - Expected around 62 Lac + Ex-Showroom Delhi. MID on both Petrol & Diesel is same, just Trims are different (wooden/ Metal inserts) with Diesel getting more premium. Burmester 630 Watt with 13 Speakers is standard on Diesel and so are controls of front passenger seats from the rear. Expect close to S-Class legroom Sadly no Remote controls for Audio for rear passengers.

re: 2017 Mercedes E-Class caught testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 56.15 lakh!

2017 E-Class LWB launch on 28th February 2017

Quote:
The all-new 2017 Mercedes E-Class sedan will launch in India on February 28, 2017. Unlike its predecessors, the new E-Class sedan will be sold in India in long-wheelbase guise, as reported by us way back in 2014.
The S-class and its rivals are all sold in India only as long-wheelbase variants, but then, for high-tech super-luxury limousines like those, it’s much easier to justify the stretch. However, those cars also cost over Rs 1 crore, which is double the price of the current E-class! That leaves a huge gap in the range that’s currently occupied either by SUVs or sleeker, sportier models like the CLS four-door coupé and the E-class Cabriolet. The long-wheelbase E-class, then, will be the sedan to plug that gap, offering simply more of what such customers want in their car – rear seat space. It will create a new segment of luxury sedans that’s slightly larger than the current crop, and will also give the smaller C-class some breathing room, what with its prices also slowly inching towards the Rs 50 lakh mark on higher variants. As expected, the price will stretch too, to Rs 5-10 lakh more than currently in the region of Rs 55-70 lakh (ex-showroom).

Launching the considerably more expensive long-wheelbase E-class instead of the standard one is a big gamble for Mercedes-Benz India. However, the company feels confident of its success. “The car will not only be a benchmark in the current segment but will also target customers from a segment above, from rival brands,” the company said in a statement.
